U.S.A. Florida

hi everybody!

it may be a bit early to start a thread for a program starting in spring of 2013, but i'm so excited and thought why not! anyways, i was enrolled in the adn program at irsc this past spring, but due to medical reasons, i decided to leave the program. now that i'm getting healthier i decided to get my cna license this fall and re-apply to the adnnursing program that starts spring 2013.

i learned a lot about irsc's nursing program, as well as the nln exam, so if you have any questions feel free to leave a comment because i would love to help out!

good luck to all of you!

Hi everyone ...

Well, I feel a little better about my application. I thought I was out of the running because I havent completed my pre-reqs. I'm currently in Micro/MicroLab, and Chemistry. If I am accepted they will be out of the way ... but unfortunately I have no points for these classes yet. And I still will need Nutrition and Human developement (Ithink thats the names) But it looks like a lot of applicants still have some unfinished pre-reqs. I have 65 points from classes taken and a 160 on the NLN for a total of 225. I'm thinking I may be on the edge of getting in .... hoping.... praying ... Rumor has it last year someone with a 235 didnt get in... but it changes year to year so there is always hope! I can't believe its only been 2 weeks since the application deadline ... the waiting is killing me. Lets hear from some more of you!!!!

For those of you reading this in preparation for applying to the next class ... The NLN review book was the best $45.00 I've spent all year! I took the NLN without having taken any Biology, Chemistry, or Microbiology ... I got a 160. It's a comprehensive review and definately worth the time to go through it cover to cover including the sample test CD included with it.

Best of luck to you all!

PDowling there is always a chance to get in the program, it is dependent on the overall grades of the students that apply and where you fall in that group. There are so many rumors surrounding the rn program that you cant tell what is real and what is fake. So I just look at previous thread of previous applicants and see what the scores are of people who got in the program and i can tell you it varies. For example in Fall 2011 some overall scores that got in were 200 and another person with 172 total did not get in. Another person who go in had an over all score of 184. For Spring 2012 the scores i saw that got in were 259, 254, 250, 249, 247and 228 someone with a 215 did not get in. For Fall 2012 the scores I saw were 261, 255, 250, 243 (this person had applied for spring 2012 and did not get it with 221), 223, 215 (this person also applied in spring 2012 and did not get at that time), 210 and 202. So you see the scores vary each semester and the variation are spaced out. I noticed that the majority of the people who got in had their prereqs completed I saw a few that were missing 1 or 2 prereqs. Its a long wait and it is very nailbiting but again I wish all applicants good luck. Keep in mind that the scores I mentioned were what I saw on the different forums, so pay no attention to the rumors...

I have question...what is a good NLN score?

JDsGirl, I cant tell you what a good NLN score is because the average range that students score is between 50 and 150 (some exceptional ones score higher) so the percentile range those scores would fall in are 0-99 percentile. The aim is to try to score in the 90th percentile onwards, a 90th percentile would be a score of 128. I noted some of the scores from Fall 2011 to Fall 2012 so you could get an idea of the overal scores of people who got into the program... read my earlier post and see if this clarifies any questions you mah have....good luck to you:)

Thanks Bizzommee! Appreciate your input!

JDsGirl ur welcome...we learn as we go along.

Not to worsen anyones nerves but we might not have to wait that much longer for our letters. I applied last semester for the fall program and the application deadline was March 6th and I looked at the date of my rejection letter and it said April 3rd. I had applied too early. I was in the middle of Nutrition class and had not yet taken AP II, Micro or Chemistry. Also, I know of someone who works with me at the hospital and got in with a points total of 221. You just never know. If anyone gets their letters out there please post ASAP!!!!!!

Thanks Etjvn723 for sharing that info. We first timers are flying blind so you input really helped to clarify what is to be expected. Do you mind sharing your score? Mine is a total of 234 so am hoping I get in. Have you taken the tabe as yet I know we need to tabe befor the first day of class. I will be taking mine the fist week of October. I hope you get in too. It has been 2 weeks since the dealine for the applications so my guess we may hear form they by the 1st or 2nd week of october...Good luck to you!

That is a really great score!! I just have a 213 so I'm hoping that will be enough. I took the tabe years ago for another job and trust me when I say that it is a walk in the park compared to the NLN. I'm actually shocked that they would require taking that test after passing the NLN. It's a test on REALLY basic education. I have to retake it though because I believe your scores are only good for 2 years. I wouldn't worry if I were you, with a score of 234 I'm pretty sure you are in! A part of me can't wait to see that letter in the mail and the other part of me walks very slowly to the mailbox because I'm scared of what I might find.... lol! Good luck!!!!

Etjvn723, am thinking we should get our letters around the 1st or 2nd week of October...I hope you get in too. As soon as I get mine I will post that I got it...keeping my figers crossed.

You all have me nervous now! I'm going to start stalking my mailbox for a letter!

Hey jessicaleighbob, am pretty sure ur getting in u have amazing scores, still nail-biting though...am sooooo nervous too!
