Hello all,

I thought I would start a thread for those of us applying to HCC's Spring 2013 nursing program. I am a Veterinary Technician/stay at home mom. I'm gathering everything for my application and hoping to drop it off at HCC soon. The deadline isn't until 6/1 but they recommend turning it in at least 30 days in advance. I'm a current HCC student. I was planning on applying for Fall this year, but am now expecting a little girl to arrive in July so spring it is! My pre-req GPA is 3.86 (all A's and 1 B), I'm hoping that this is good enough to get me a spot in the program for DM evening classes. Good luck to all!

Has anyone registered for the ebooks? im having a hard time registering. can someone guide me through the steps please. Thanks!

I am feeling a little stressed about my first class today. I just recently got my books. My instructor told us to read through Chapter 10 in our clinical calculations book, but I only got through Chapter 7. Please tell me that I'm not the only one...

Are our HCC patches suppose to be sewn 2" below the left shoulder seam on the front or sleeve? I've seen both.

I think the handbook says on the sleeve.

I think the handbook says on the sleeve.

The handbook says 2" below the shoulder seam. I'm just not sure what the shoulder seam is. It doesn't specifically say on the sleeve. Just on the shoulder. I'll clarify with my instructor, but so far the consensus is on the sleeve.

To place patch properly:

Hold your shirt up by the shoulders, where The top would lay if you were wearing it. (Don't use the seam line as the shoulder line.). Press shirt making a crease in the natural shoulder. On left arm measure 2" down from the horizontal seam where the arm meets the shoulders. Center patch and hold into place with straight pins. Then sew the patch on the sleeve by taking small stitches through the edge of the patch and the fabric. Get as close to the edge as possible and make sure the inside is flat( no wrinkles or bubbles.).

You can always take it to a dry cleaners and have them sew it for about $5. Hope this helps.

I had to call the tech support number. You need the number from the box the books came in or the number off the invoice in order to activate the ebooks.

Hi, there. I'm applying for spring 2014. (Is there anyone here???applying for spring 2014?) I have a question about my prerequisite classes. All of my prerequisites courses (that are done in HCC) are 7 years old. When I talked to an adviser, he said it should be fine but I'm so nervous. Is there certain year limit for the classes? Please help...thanks!

Hello All; I'm at the very beginning of the "journey" ...can anyone tell me how long it takes to do all nursing pre-requisites (21 credits) ? is two semesters realistic? is it possible to take them all in one semester? thanks for answers

I think two to three semesters is more realistic. You cannot register for A&P II before you complete A&P I. Plus, you want to make sure you keep your prereq GPA very high. It's competitive!

Thank you very much for reply Rachanee. I'm getting close to my mid thirties so time is of essence... :) how demanding are those courses? how many hours would i have to spend studying in addition to in-class tuition? i have some background in health sciences but will have to do all pre-requisites.

Hi, I am going to take nursing prerequisite courses from this summer. There are 9 prerequisite course. Do you have any suggestions about those course. Which courses I should take first, and then? Thank you very much.
