Broward College Nursing Program August 2016

U.S.A. Florida

Updated:   Published

Hello!

I just wanted to make a thread for nursing program at BC for this coming Fall semester.

I passed the Hesi last week after 4 days of studying. (Got tired of studying the Elvesier book so I took my chances)

My overall score: 85%. My lowest score's reading: 78% ( English is my second language and I took this section last so didn't have enough time to really read the questions)

I turned in my application last Wednesday. The lady said to look for an email around May- June.

Anyone is applying for Fall? Did your status on myBC change yet?

Chapters 15 thru 20 in which book?

Is this the book?

Thanks for being so helpful!!! I'm curious about purchasing the jarvis book now. Should I just rent it and get a better deal with this bundle pack I keep reading about? I rented the Fundamentals book for $20 just to get a head start and I'll purchase it in May.

What bundle pack?

Don't buy the bundle it gives you books that you don't need yet it gives you the med surg books that you don't need it's a waste of money

hi ashley,

where would you recommend getting a BP cuff? and how was searching for scrubs, stethoscope, shoes, etc? Any advice on where to get them?

any tips on getting a start on pharmacology? what chapters to focus on?

how is the support from faculty? Do you find them willing and available to help if you need it?

I rented the perry/potter fundamentals of nursing 8th edition just to read through, is that what you use?

thank you so much for all your insight, i've been reading your posts, really appteciate your help!

Ok go on amazon for the bp cuff. The stethoscope get the littman classic 2 I think it is. It's like $89 at the uniform advantage. Don't buy the scrubs in the bookstore get the ones at uniform advantage on Atlantic blvd. They are Cherokee and they are a lot more comfortable. Also the shoes do not and I repeat do not buy the nurse mates shoes they will make you buy new ones. I threw away $70. Go to Payless and get the $30 ones bc if not you will throw away your money. Pharm don't stress until you start bc he only tests from the powerpoints. What you should be focusing on is funds and jarvis and math. Pharm is straight memorization. It depends on the teacher tbh but most are very helpful and will answer any questions you but then you have others who never answer your question. Yes we use that book and I posted above what to focus on for now.

So you recommend buying the scrubs and getting them embroidered separately? What rules do they have for shoes? All white? Can I wear white nike sneakers? They do have some slight gray marking, would it be a problem?

They embroider them there. No you can't wear those. They have to be all white sneakers no logo. They can't be anything but sneakers at least for north campus. Everything I'm saying is for north campus only. I don't know how the other campuses are.

Thanks. You saved me some money. Which ones from Payless did you get?
