Any Valencia or Seminole CC or FHCHS grads?

U.S.A. Florida

Please share with me your satisfaction with your RN education at either Valencia CC, Seminole CC, or FHCHS. Did you feel fully prepared once you started your first nursing job? Did the nursing program allow you to work secularly and attend school? If you had to choose again, would you attend the same nursing program? I am re-considering attending nursing school (did so 5 years ago in another state) and would like to get some feedback on the schools here in Central Florida. Thanks.

hello still thinking,

although i am not a nursing student i can give you some advise. you really don't have to pick which school to go with until you are about 1 semester away from being done with prerequisites. as far as how good the nursing programs are i have heard excellent things about valencia and fhchs from nursing students. but i am still going to transfer to seminole.

now if you want to get started in the actual nursing program quickly, the fastest way is fhchs. they don't require you to be done with everything before you start. one of my friends is still in a&p 2 and has 3 more classes to finish and she has been accepted for august of this year at fhchs.

right now if you turn in your application, today, with all of your prerequisites done at valencia the earliest you will begin is summer of 2006.

i hope this helps!

Well... what can I say... both have GREAT programs, (Valencia and FHCHS). I started at Valencia Summer 2004 and transferred to FHCHS Spring 2005. I start the nursing program in August, I just got accepted. I transfered because at Valencia I would have to wait too long (about a year or more waiting list) but don't think FHCHS is any easier to get in. I have a 3.93 and I was sweating to get in, I had friends in my classes with 3.70 GPA's that where denied. So if you have a really good GPA go for FHCHS. Seminole is not a very good idea, they where really bad on the NCLEX and risk loosing their accredation.

Hello, I was wondering about SSC scores and if they have improved, I guess not. Its great you are starting this fall into FHCHS you will be starting with 2 friends of mine. Its odd that your friend didn't get in with a 3.70 because one of my friends got in with a 3.11. I was surprised but maybe she excelled somewhere I don't know about.

Good luck,

Cara

I am also surprised. But maybe her cognitive SCIENCE GPA was higher or she had a great ACT or even an awesome ESSAY. They consider your acceptance essay very important at Florida Hospital. Well I'm glad your friend made it. There where close to 1000 applications at Florida Hospital for the program starting in August, and only 70 vacancies. The program is getting harder and harder to get into and competition is fierce. About the school scores... SCC had like 75%, FHCHS had a 88% and Valencia is at 90%. Those are the approval rates for the NCLEX. This shows Valencia at a better level, but that dawm waiting list is just overwhelming!! 1 or 1 1/2 year wait... after you apply!! Thats just too long to wait after your done with all your pre-reqs.

StillThinking,

I know you havent had any responses from actual grads but I have a GROUP I recently created for FHCHS students and future students to exchange messages about the college. Its a new group, so it only has about 15 members, but there is atleast two recent grads in there you can talk to. Here is a link to the GROUP page at yahoo. The name of the group is FHCHS. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/fhchs/ . Just copy and paste the address to your browser and go in.

Thanks to everyone for the information. I appreciate it greatly. :thankya:
