2012 UNF Accelerated BSN Hopefuls

U.S.A. Florida

Hey Everyone-

I haven't seen a thread for the UNF 2012 Accelerated BSN yet so i figured I would create one. The previous classes seemed like they got a lot out of sharing with one another so hopeful we can do the same. Feel free to share any information you have, where you are in the application process or just any woes or worries. Let try to help each other along in this stressful process.

Later and good-luck,

Eric

I am also applying to the UNF accelerated program in January. Right now I am just trying to study for the teas test. Have you taken it yet?

Hi Eric! I am a 2012 Accelerated hopeful as well! Have you taken the TEAS yet? I took it a few weeks ago and received an 87.3% which I suppose is okay. My pre-req GPA is 3.8 which surprised me because my cumulative GPA is a little low. I noticed that in your "name" you have 813- are you by any chance from Tampa? I am and I'm applying to UNF, UCF & USF. Is UNF your first choice? I'm a little nervous because there are so many applicants and only a few spots available. Thanks for opening the 2012 thread and I look forward to hearing from you!

Hey guys-

@Danielle-Awesome. Yea I took the TEAS a couple of weeks ago. The ATI Study Guide was a huge help. Science was a bit difficult because it was so broad but all in all, it wasn't too bad.

@WCT-Hey there! Its awesome to finally hear from people. We are in the same ballpark with both GPA and TEAS. I'm finishing up one prereq now and should end up with a 3.7 gpa. My TEAS was an 85.8. Science killed my score. Hopefully we get some interviews. From what I have been reading we should be competitive. No, I'm actually from the St. Augustine area but I went to school at St. Leo University just north of Tampa. I'm trying to stay in the area b/c I own a house here so I'm only applying to UNF and JU, UNF being my number one. Are you from the Tampa area?

I am also applying to UNF for summer 2012. I take the TEAS test on Tuesday. I am nervous about the whole application process, but hopeful.

Hi! I took the TEAS today at UNF- I might have met you roemerr! The score percentages you guys are giving, is that the score off the test, or did you figure it out by adding up the 4 different sections /400 total points?

I was just wondering if you thought the teas test was very hard and if the practice book was helpful. I just ordered it and I am preparing for a long process. Good luck everyone!

@Danielle3352, I didn't think it was too, too bad. I got about 388/400. I just looked over the stuff in the sticky on the students board, this one: https://allnurses.com/pre-nursing-student/how-i-studied-531994.html

But, full disclosure, I had also been studying for the GRE (I took it on Saturday, for UF's ABSN program), so I had been working on math/reading comp. I thought the math was very, very basic (mostly decimals, fractions, percents), and the science was the hardest for me, just because there is such a range of basic info.

Good luck! When do you take it?

I don't take it until Dec. 9th. I graduated 7 years ago so I'm going to have to brush up on EVERYTHING...I wanted to give myself plenty of time.

Thank you so much for that website...very helpful.

@seaglassgreen -- I think we did meet. I remember you mentioning taking the GRE.

@Danielle3352 -- I feel the ATI study guide is very similar to the test.

I haven't had a math class in 15 years, but found that section surprisingly easy.

I am happy with my results given my effort. 350/400. The science section is the killer in my opinion.

@Danielle3352, you're welcome, good luck on your test :)

@roemerr, good work, they say that the average for an interview is what, like 330? I'm honestly more nervous about the interview than about the testing/GPA lol..
