Florida International University (FIU) CRNA Spring 2024 Start

Published

Didn't see this topic posted, so posting now! Trying to see who's applying for FIU's CRNA program since the application window is opening soon!

I think we all probably did better than we think. We are definitely in the majority because one thing is for sure... Everyone always leaves interviews feeling like it didn't go well ?

Interesting,  I felt the exact opposite way

I think the Miami interviewers were super nice and gave me a chance to really showcase who I am as a nurse and why I really want to be a CRNA. FIU they were also nice, but definitely more cut and dry with their questions.

Just curious, I feel most people want FIU

over UM. Is it cost or other things? My interview at UM was uncomfortable. The one at FIU was weird but fine haha

for me, cost and frontloaded program over integrated program. but both of them are very good and well established programs with 3k5 hrs of clinical hours.

I honestly feel 400 + applications for fiu and MU, probably 200 of them are overlapped.

I stated that FIU was a frontloaded program in the interview and Dr. Miller said that they were integrated. I've only ever seen that FIU was frontloaded so I don't understand the misconception because in the information video Dr. Valdez said it was frontloaded.

that is how I felt about MU integrated program as well, it is more like frontloaded to me since the first 2 semesters are sim lab with a very little of clinical hrs.

I just looked at FIU curriculum, it def is very similar to UM curriculum.

I guess they are not purely frontloaded since I saw other frontloaded program that theri students don't start going to sim lab since semester 3 or 4.

It is super confusing for sure

It really looks like we are all feeling the same and waiting the brutal wait. Congratulations to everyone on getting this far and being amazing nurses! Stay positive

What was it about the UM interview that was uncomfortable for you? I suppose it depends a lot on who interviews you as well

I think UM is longer time wise, heavy on patho and pharm and really breaking down clinical scenarios. I think FIU reviews our resumes, personal statements, letters of recommendations and the interview is more to see how we interact and get an idea of our personalities.

last year, they sent out emails on May 25, and gave applicants 4 days to make their decisions.

Wow 4 days only? That's nothing ?

yeah. FIu did not break down clinical scenarios for  me, they did not give me any feedback on my answers as well. it was like 1 way interview.

That makes sense. My interview this morning was about 45min compared to FIU which was only 15min. They were definitely heavy on patho and pharm... why I think I struggled a bit not really expecting that stuff haha
