FL nursing schools

Anyone apply and get in with less than a 3.0? I have to find an affordable program since I already have a BS.

I'm feeling so discouraged and I haven't been in college in 7 years.

Specializes in NICU, ICU, PICU, Academia.

Depending on where you.live Online College - Western Governors University - WGU has prelicensure nursing in FL.

I did to FIU and got accepted. I have a 2.5 cumulative gpa only because I failed a few classes when I first got to college over 18 years ago. Those classes were not nursing classes however. My junior and senior year gpa was 3.6 mostly nursing classes. I was very uncertain. But I explained it in my personal statement, I have over 6 years of solid nursing experience, I'm an alumni of the college and I had one of my professor at FIU write one of my letter of recommendation. The interview went well I made sure I practice common questions asked in such interviews. I was one of the first ones invited to interview. So there is hope. Just be honest explain what happened and try to bring forth the positives of why you would excel in the program

I've done online learning in the past and did not do well. I'm a very visual and hands on learner.

Spoke to scc and was encouraged to retake A&p to help raise gpa and maybe microbiology as well

What are do you live in? I was in a similar position with a BS in CJ and under 3.0. I have to do a lot of research and apply many places.

I live in central Florida. Did you find a place that worked? Or are you still in the process?

I did, thankful SCF took away the entrance test for this whil, I don't know how long. I heard through rumors they may implement something because of the high number of applicants this cycle. I was willing to move almost any where for a reasonably priced RN or BSN program. I also applied or planned on applying anywhere that I met their minimum requirements. I kept short notes in my phone for each. school the deadline, if it was ADN/Traditional/2nd degree BSN. There are so many different options. I lost track a few times even when taking notes but nothing to bad.

I can't move out of my area unfortunately because of my kids, husband and job.

A pro with scc is they only really go by prerequisites gpa and you can retake/substitute some courses. There are a lot of programs that use cum gpa though near me :(

I'm glad you found something that fit, what doe sCF stand for?

Oh yes of course, not everyone is able to move, I meant to say that. See if there are other small state schools in your are or within a good distance where you can drive. SCF is State College of Florida, I did a few of my pre reqs there. I am actually still waiting on two more school to send out decisions. The closest one to me is about 1.5hrs at one of the campuses (HCC-Plant City). They have about 2-3 campuses where they offer their nursing program which is pretty cool.
