Unfortunitly, I'm still having trouble finding a job here in south louisiana. The hospitals are not hiring (as far as I know). I don't know anyone on the inside to check for me, so I have to look for job postings in the paper and internet. Those jobs seem to be the ones nurses don't want 'cause they are posted forever.

J Lynn, how about checking with an agency or a staffing agency that can place you in a hospital of facility? Just a thought. Good luck

Thanks for the thought. I'm not familiar with how agencies work, so that's why I haven't sought them out yet. But I do have two interviews tomorrow

I'll let you know how it goes.

i accepted a job today!!!!! it's a small rural hospital (25 beds). everyone seems real nice....like a family. i'll be on med/surg and sometimes nursery. i also get to rotate other departments during my orientation (er, icu) which is great for an lpn.

:balloons:congratulations! :balloons: you seem excited! sounds like you will get exposure to several different areas, which will be to your advantage.

as to go with the topic of the post, i am working on a surgical intermediate unit in a big teaching hospital. it seems pretty interesting, but very challenging. from what i have seen so far, it seems the staff is used to new grads and supportive of them. it's exciting!

I will be starting in September as a GN in the Trauma ICU at a large teaching hospital in Chicago!

Good luck J Lynn!

Started an ICU residency this month. I had hospital and nursing orentation this week. The class room portion startes next week, 3 days a week and one 12 hours shift in the unit. I was able to work the previous two week in the CCD which helped me get my feet wet. So, life is good.:)
