Texas Health July 2017 Residency

Nurses New Nurse

Does anyone know when Texas Health Resources will open up their application for their Graduate Nurse Residency program for July 2017?

Has anyone worked in the ICU for any of the THR facilities? If so, where at and what are some pros/cons?

Thank you :)

Each THR facility is very different. Each THR facility also has a different hiring timeline for residencies. With that said, good things you will generally hear are: good pay, good benefits, excellent culture. It's a good idea to go to the THR page, make an account, and set alerts for the facilities you're interested with keywords, IE GN, residency, etc.

I was told they'll open up next month!

Oh cool thanks! I know a lot of the May graduates last year said THR opened up really early for them around January.

I recommend applying early. Early applicants have seemed to have an advantage. Many departments hire on a rolling basis, and when slots are gone, they're gone.

Which hospital are you looking at working at? I'm planning on applying asap :)

I currently work at Texas Health Southwest. It's a great hospital and I would highly recommend it it to anyone. Recently got magnet! But it's way too far of a drive for me. I'm really wanting Dallas Presbyterian. Or maybe HEB... heard it was good.

Being a current The employee will give you a major advantage, if you're well regarded. When you apply, you'll need recommendations. It won't hurt to have recommendations from Texashealth.org addresses (they're done electronically). It also wouldn't hurt if your manager called the hiring manager and gave a heads up that someone who is a good employee is applying.

Welcome. You have a major advantage. Use it. Getting an interview is slightly about being the best applicant, but majorly about being smart in your approach. When I've been a hiring manager, I'm much more likely to interview someone if they're recommended by someone I know, or someone in the same org. Because I know they're unlikely to recommend a turd, since they know if they do, I know the same people they know and will mention they sent me a turd.

I'd like the Harris location because I'm from Fort Worth but Presby would be cool too. I go to school in Lubbock so I'm just trying to move back to DFW
