Salary to expect as a new grad nurse

Nurses New Nurse

Published

Hello all. just reading different threads and wondering what does the starting salary look like for a grad nurse? i live the in Atlanta area so any ball park figure will do. thanks!

Specializes in Pediatrics.

I will be starting at a base pay of $17 per hour in Knoxville... but cost of living there is much cheaper than a lot of other places. Plus it is a hospital I am very excited about working at!!

I'm in Springfield, MO. I have heard new grads start at 15.50 an hour here, 16.50 if I'm lucky. Cost of living is cheap, you can get a nice apartment for 600 a month, but the two hospitals here battle to keep wages low for us. :angryfire Too bad I like Springfield so much.

Every area is different. In FL, pretty much the bottom of the totem pole, lol, starting pay for new grads is between $18-$20/hr.

I'm planing on moving to FL to work after grad. does that amount goes everywere in Florida or does it depend on where you are moving?

i was taking the excelsior college and someone asked this and was told it's $10-13/hour. they seemed pretty proud that they paid this MUCH. not kidding.

north fla the average is 17-19$ central fl is a little better but not much. if you want tomake money then you need to move to tampa, miami, or palm beach. the thing about north fl though is the cost of living. I know adn's with experience who are making $100,000 a year as DON's and Risk managers. you can get a really nice house for about 200,000$ or a decent one for 100,000$. lots of good hospitals too, especially in Gainesville, Tampa, Miami, Jacksonville, Orlando. If you tell me a general area I could give you more info.

Hey,

I live in Ohio. I just started the interview process and so far I've been offered 22/hour plus benefits up to 26/hour plus benefits. I'm taking the latter one, plus they said they'd pay off my school loans!!

hope that helps

Carrie

Hi Carrie...I'm just curious..I too live in Ohio...is the 26 and hour for an agency? I'm just curious because that is a really good starting rate...better than I have come accross. I may have to switch jobs!!

Specializes in ECMO.

in san antonio at one hospital GN's get paid same as RN's. no raise for passing boards. no raise for acls. no raise for CCRN or other certification.

starting pay is $17/hr. $2.80 evening diff. $4.5 night diff. weekenders get $5 extra. reg weekend pay diff is $3.

also low cost of living in san antonio. apartments range from $400-$1200, depends on the area. average about $500 1 bedroom

in mobile alabama new grad salaries range from 15 to 19 base rate. i make 19.25 :) plus 3 dollars shift diff for nights. i notice i don't make as much as some other areas of the country but my cost of living is low.

Just wanted to say hi to everyone because this is my first post.

To answer you question, here in North California I had a friend with an ADN (maybe and RN) straight out of school get $37.00/hr. That makes me very happy because hopefully in 3.5 years I will be a RN also. :)

hi. I was actually thinking on moving to Tampa, orlando or somewere near by. If you can give me more info would be really good. you can also send me a mesage if you want to give me more details. :) I just want to go over there knowing that I can be able to afford to live over there with my two children. Thanks again.

Welcome and hope everything goes well for you. :)

This is my first post also. I've been a nurse for 6 1/2 yrs. I'm making $21.74 in OHIO. Looking at this thread, I'm starting to think I'm under-paid! I work in an area hospital with Great benefits.....but still. I work 3rd shift. Our differential is $3.00/hr. (of course I did start out at $14.xx/hour as a new grad 6 years ago

Are these posts mostly hospital salaries??? I could understand the higher pay if it was agency or travelers.......
