Need advise on job offers

Hi all so I'm a new grad recently let go from my first job on an oncology unit. Bit off more than I can chew and it ended up causing me stress at work and I couldn't think clearly. Anyway I've been looking for a month and have had some interviews. I was recently offered a job on a palliative care/medical unit with a 7 bed hospice wing. I also recently interviewed on a surgical unit that sees a lot of GI surgeries ( I will find out about that one within a week) I told HR I would consider the palliative care job over the weekend and let them know early next week what I decide. My question is do you think palliative care is a good place to start? I liked the manager and the nurse to patient ratio is 1: 4 or 5 depending on staff and what shift it is. Surgical is the same way. Any advise would help. I want a job soon as I've been super bored for the past month but also want a job I can thrive in.

People are always asking about "a good place to start" with no ending in mind. Kind of like, "Is this a good street to drive down?" with no destination in mind.

What are your ultimate career goals? They should factor in significantly.

Ultimately I want to go into peds. For now I'm looking for a slow paced job to start. I had no luck in the peds positions I have applied to yet

If peds is where you'd like to be, the surgical unit would probably be a better stepping stone than hospice.

You do not have an offer yet for the surgical position. Your bigger concern would be how to keep the palliative care position on the back burner while hoping for other offers.

Neither position will be "slow paced". Why is slow paced your goal?

My confidence was shot after I was let go from oncology. I want something but want to make the best choice
