and many others about names and titles.. Im a recent grad, BSN and have not taken the boards cuz u gotta wait till paperworks all in. I want to know cuz i want to get my name engraved on my stethoscope lol. What did most people put on there stethoscopes or did they just leave it blank and not put there name. Should i just get that little name plate u connect to it and wait or get it engraved. I know, nothing monumental, but its my graduation present. Dont want anyone taking my new stethoscope.

I have never engraved my stethescope. It sounds very nice and at one time (a long time ago) I wanted to, but I soon learned that stethescopes have a tendency to walk off. :angryfire

I have seen some nurses that have engraved their first and last name on their stethoscopes. I don't think having the title really matters. (Generally, there's not a whole lot of room on there!) I just bought one of those name tags that can clip onto the stethoscope and wrote my first and last name with a permanent magic marker.

The main thing is that you don't want to lose your stethoscope. I leave it around my neck when I work. Once I leave work, I put it in my stethoscope bag and put it in a place by my front door key basket, so I don't forget it.

In the big scheme of things, no one really cares that you are a BSN. Patients just want to know you are their nurse, giving them care. So if it makes you feel better, you can engrave "joe smoe, BSN, RN", but it's not really necessary. I would not put GN on there. Hope that helps.

It's funny because I really want to wear my nursing pin. But the pin guard has "RN" on it. And well I'm not an RN yet and feel funny wearing it so I don't :(

but then part of me is like well it has my school name on it and I did graduate from the RN program so I dunno. But after all the threads on here about using RN before you are an RN it just sits in my jewelry box until I pass boards.
