i took the nclex yesterday and stopped at 75. i felt great when i left, i couldn't stop smiling. i've always heard that if it stops you at 75, you either bombed it or you passed. i've never heard of anyone failing who got the minimum questions. now i'm reading what others have posted who were stopped at 75 and i'm getting nervous. maybe i just thought i did well, but ended up doing horrible. has anyone ever heard of someone failing with 75 questions? totally nervous now!

i think you should be fine!!

COngrats to you!!!

you are a RN!!!!!!

I know exactly how you feel. I took the test on June 1st and it stopped at 75. At first I felt really confident and then I started reading few threads that talked about people that failed at 75 and then I started second guessing myself. I found out today that I passed. If you feel really good odds are you passed. I did not listen to all the "you passed don't worry" speeches. Keep your spirits up and I will pray that you get the results you are looking for.

Wish I could speak from experience... but I am waiting for my ATT. However... just to help you put your mind at ease - consider that the only way the computer would shut off at 75: Either you were substantially above pass (the by far most common reason) or you were so far below passing that the computer could be statistically certain (I think it has to be in the 99% certain range) that you couldn't reach the passing level no matter how many questions you took. If there's any doubt, the computer keeps giving you questions. Factor in the fact that 80% of people pass (most recent stats) - and it's pretty darned likely you passed. Now of course this is easy for *me* to say... since I am not the one who just took the test! LOL. By the time I take it, you will have passed and this will all be a distant memory. So when I post a similar post after I've taken my exam - you can try this logic on me:chuckle .. and back it up with your experience!

Got my fingers crossed for you! How soon until you know?

OK the nclex was hard. for me at least, i don't know how i did... i either did really bad or really well. i'm thinking negatively though. the computer shut off at 75. ok... in my head.. can someone tell me this.. if you had a patient who was postpartum after delivering a baby a few hours ago, through lady partsl delivery, who wanted to take a shower.. is there a time limit for this? do you a) let them take a shower whenever they want? b) tell them to wait 12 hours from the time they delivered? c) check their temp and then let them? and i forget D. but can someone please help me out?! ok please get back to me... i know i got some wrong on the test after thinking about it later. what a bad day. :crying2:

It ain't nothing but a number. If you felt good afterwards, I'm sure you did fine. People get so hung up and stressed out over the number of questions, I'm beginning to think the old way that I took it was better (we all took it on the same day with the same number of questions) but the wait was longer, so that part isn't good.

Good luck!

I don't know the answer to that postpartum question. I took the NCLEX yesterday and I didn't know the answers to what seemed like most of them.

I know they video tape us at the computers. Anyone who watched/watches me will see my dumbfounded face many many times. I didn't know where they got those questions! All the practice NCLEX questions I did had rationals that I understood, but yesterday I had a hard time justifying many of my answers! I also got shut off at 75 questions. I hate thinking about the possibility of failure. I just want my results already!

I took mine in Wed. and am waiting on results. I also cut off at 75 so I either am really smart or was really nervous because I know I am not dumb. But the administrator over my school says that in the 18 yrs she ahs been there she has never had a student to stop at 75 and fail. Hope that makes you feel better.

God bless!!!!:rotfl:

First of all I hope you and everyone else who are awaiting exam results did well. I was looking up your question in my text. It reads that a lady partsl birth without complications...8 hrs after delivery woman will be up to shower with assistance and 9-16 hrs after delivery woman will be up to shower independently.

I would not pick D - :rotfl:, I would only take a temp after I established bp and pulse first, so C would be out, I guess the safest answer would be B since it should be less likely that the patient would pass out in the shower by that time. Of course, in the real world when I delivered my 2nd child, I took a shower approx. one hr later. Oh well - best of luck to you!!! I take my exam on June 23rd and am soooo nervous!

If most of the items you encountered are difficult, chances are you'll gonna pass. Difficult nclex questions are noted to be a progressing line on your graph. That means the computer is throwing you a more difficult question after you adequately answered a hard question.:roll

lol. i feel your pain!! i swear, i think i prayed almost 30 times that day. i know how you feel about having a hard time justifying the answers. most of my questions dealt with emergency but they made it so difficult for me to justify. oh well... i do hate thinking about the possibility of failure. i know i got some right but i know i got some wrong. AHAHHHH we'll see. good luck to you though. :p

Well, I don't know by the book... but I know that when I had my baby, as soon as I was stitched up I was up in the shower, and I was shaving! that was only about 45 minutes after I had had the baby... tops.

I'm sure you did fine!
