Departments to work in as new LVN

  1. What are the optional branches for nursing as an LVN? I hear it's med-surg and LTC. Is it possible to go into other area's other than these two? I start school next month and I'm trying to get a good idea of what my options are as an LVN.

Also, are certain branches paid higher than others for LVN's?

    Thanks!

You can work in a clinic but that tends to be the worst paying.
I believe that usually LTC pays best, followed by hospital, and then clinic.

I too am about to start school to become an LVN, and have been investigating my options upon graduation. Here are the different areas I've been told I could pursue:

    Doctor's offices/clinics
Hospitals (mainly med/surg, nothing "glamorous" like ER, ICU, etc)
    LTC
    Hospice
    Rehab
    Home Health

There's probably more, but I just can't think of them right now! Good luck to you in school.
