Hi All,

Took the test on the 8th of March and my machine shut off at 75. I was excited at the time as many in my class had the same thing happen and they all passed. Then my friend sent me a link to one of these forums and it said that someone knew of many who failed with only 75 questions. Now I'm a wee bit nervous. I was wondering if anyone else had the computer shut off at 75 questions and whether they passed or failed?

I should know on the 10th whether I passed or failed but this waiting is killing me!

Hopefully soon to be RN,

For it to shut off at 75, it means either 1)that you're a major idiot, for you've failed such a high percentage of the questions already & continuing to 265 will statistically never put you in the range of "average", or 2)the computer has already determined that you answer these questions at least as well as the "average" test-taker, and therefore have already passed.

Honestly, I heard the same rumors about people failing at 75, but how often does this REALLY happen? Very, very rarely, if at all.

My computer stopped at 75. At the time, I was worried that I had failed b/c some of the questions were tough! But that's the nature of the test. It will ALWAYS ask you questions above your ability level, progressing all the way up to "expert" level, until the computer's statistical program determines what level you test in. If you've made it to 75 & qualified for at least the "average joe" range, just basic passing, the computer shuts off.

Don't sweat it!

Found out today that I passed the state boards. The other girl that had only 75 questions also passed. For anyone else who has this same question it seems as if the majority pass if the test ends at 75.

Mine also shut off at 75 questions. I was really worried, but I passed, too. :balloons:

Hey Jabber,

I just took it on the 9th. I also got 75 questions, unfortunatly I have to wait anywhere between 6 days and 3 weeks to find out my results. I have to say though, I am sooooooo scared.

Congrats, btw

All the best luck to you in your wonderful career choice.

Mine also shut off at 75, but I thought I failed because most of my questions at the end were easy. They were very specific disease oriented questions, but they were brief, and 2 of the answers were obviously wrong on most of the last 20 or so questions. I kept saying to myself, "I must have dropped down really low, because these questions are too easy. I just don't know much about these diseases!!"

I passed, though, and I think the HUGE majority of people with a 75 question test pass.
