Hi Guys!
I have been a nurse 4 years now I have spent one year in managed care and three years as a med surg nurse. My ultimate dream has always been to become a travel nurse and I am one step closer to achieving this goal! I have recently been offered a travel med surg assignment through AMN in Vallejo California. The assignment is 13 weeks with Sutter Solano Medical Center the pay is 1st 8 hours $29.65 taxable then after 8 hours $44.48 taxable add together and divide by 12 hours $34.59 taxable hourly rate. So according to my recruiter if I took their housing (which I plan to do) I would bring home $1200/week. I've been reading AMN's reviews and I am very afraid of getting screwed over. So is there any advice, tips, heads up, or words of encouragement I would greatly appreciate it!!!
thanks!!!

I am on an assignment currently with AMN. No complaints. I too was concerned about the bad reviews but took a chance. My recruiter came recommended by a former colleague turned traveler and she was happy with her so I felt that was a good enough reason to do it. I've been happy so far. Just take a chance because you'll never know.
Hi Paco-RN!!
thank you so much for responding!! I planned to just see for myself and if things didn't work out I would just never work with them again. Would your recruiter happen to be ********? Did you take their housing or find your own?
I took the housing stipend and am living with family, which is one of the reasons I chose this particular assignment: to be closer to them while I work. So in a way I luck out pocketing and saving most of my stipend money and just paying for household incidentals while I stay there. I have a different recruiter, dont think we are allowed to post that info on here though.

Congratulations on your first assignment! I know how exciting that is. I'm currently on extension on my first assignment, but this will be my last extension. Hoping to be in the San Francisco area next, late April. Let us know how things go!
PacoUSA Thank you so much! And good luck!!
Ronnie, how did this assignment go? I've delayed my San Francisco assignment search until the fall. Curious to hear about Alta Bates.
Does anyone know if it is possible to travel as a telephonic nurse case manager?
