Yay!
I wanted to come by here and thank everyone who earlier in the year provided so much help for my questions, and to the one person who prompted me to take A&P I my first semester in college.
I'm very pleased with the results thus far, in fact, I may go for a 4 year degree in biology/biotechnology then go on to nursing school. There are too many sciences I'm interested in, genetics especially.
Again, though, thank you all for your help. It hasn't been easy changing everything in my life to accommodate college, but it's worthwhile (I'm 36) :)
Wish me luck with A&P II!!

Congratulations on your success. I found taking A&P the first semester would be a good gauge of my interest of the science of the human body and its relation to nursing. I really enjoyed it. If you liked A&P1 then you will love A&P 2 when you get more in depth of the body systems. I just finished my 3rd semester and microbiology blew my mind. I'm 28 and have found maturity, experience and discipline have helped me get an "edge" in making the cut in school and i imagine its the same for you. Good luck to you in your education and nursing!

What classes did you take i thibk im getting a 3.4 - 3.5 this semester =\ congrats on your 4.0
Normal first time in college stuff: English, Algebra, Intro to Psych, A&P Lecture, A&P Lab, Gen Bio.
I took sociology instead of math and didnt take bio and got a 3.4-3.5 you are really smart i kbow you'll be a great nurse
Actually I the kids I'm in courses with have said the same thing, but it's really that I know how to study and don't get distracted.
I worry over quizzes even. Can't study at home, so I was on campus 5-6 days a week, and late, to study study study. I also arranged study groups for most of my courses. The kids were too shy to bother, I reckon. Worked out well. Made friends, got good grades :)
Good job im happy for you

An A in General Bio and A/P1 and College Algebra in your first semester.. and throwing Comp and Psych into the mix.. wow.. that is impressive!
Thank you, thank you :)
It was just a lot of studying, and knock-on-wood, it all wasn't that difficult. Except the English- 6 essays! It was every 2 weeks was a new out of class essay, then an in-class final. That was brutal (for me).
I'm taking college algebra and applying for the core program this spring. I'm a little worried about taking an 8 week course in college algebra. I'm math dumb, there is no easy way to put it.
I am too, or thought I was.
I went made sure that every day I did at least 2-3 math problems just to stay fresh. I couldn't really study math like other subjects- I would have homework (which was online), as well as quizzes (online), but I would go to the math labs and tutoring centers for help. I have/zero shame being my age and not "getting" something and asking for help from a kid 1/2 my age (which happens).
I have to push through 2 levels of Calculus though, and just for fun the assistant Dean teaches an upper-level stat course- he thinks he can teach me stats before my time, so he's allowing me to sit in the course for free. Every Saturday 8am-11am.
I was told I had a "math phobia" when I was in 7th grade, back in the 80s. Bad move- because then I was able to rationalize any low performance with math has being this fear. Turns out I love math- it's logical. It either is, or it isn't. With a course load full of "maybes" and other ambiguities, math is one thing I can rely on to be solid.
I'll tell you what someone on here told me when I was asking for advice: get your first A and ride the hell out of it :)

Congratulations!!!!!!!! I also finish my 1st semester with all Aces and I'm very pleased. I hope I'll do well next semester as well. Having a 4.0 GPA it's very encouraging and makes you want to keep it that way. I'll be taking 6 classes next semester, so I foresee many hours of study to be able to do well in all 6 classes. Good luck in your next semester.
