I quote an orthopedic surgeon I scrubbed with on an ORIF of a fractured left arm when he said "That looks pretty good" and my Dad when I broke the distributor gear on my '65 Plymouth Valiant after attempting a different technique on setting the points, both occurring in 1987:

But now I can laugh at your posts instead of merely thanking you.

Its too early to tell. It all looks funny and spread out on my phone. Like anything else I'll have to figure it out and adapt.

I like that we aren't melting down in mass quantities like my Facebook newsfeed timeline does every time it updates to a new layout.

So far not impressed. I watched a little video about how to find your past posts. Mine did not remotely work as the really "simple" instructions showed. I was able to finally figure it out, but no thanks to the video.

Secondly, how do we go to the "first new post?" If I have to waste time scrolling and scrolling through long threads to find where the new posts begin, I won't be using this site anymore.

I get that there may be bugs, and figuring out a new system can be onerous, but if they go to the trouble of posting videos instructing how to use the site, and those videos aren't even correct, well, that's not a great beginning...

Well I've sadly just learned we now have a "dislike" button. 😞

I've already seen enough.  Don't see what was "broke" about the previous site setup.  No queue of threads.  I have no interest in streaming updates, particularly entry after entry of self affirming comments, and see no need to have to go to each and every individual partition to see if a thread has been updated.  The thread queue worked quite nicely for me, especially the "daily update" option.  The "whiteness"of the entire page layout hurts my eyes almost as much as the spread out of ads.  Enough.

Oh my! I hadn't noticed that yet, and yes..there it is! I don't much care for that.  If you don't like a post either ignore it or at least explain why you don't agree. A thumbs down is too easy and I am sure it will be used and abused!

This! For me, threads will become too cumbersome to follow once more than a page or two long.

I'm also already missing the post preview that we used to get when hovering over the thread title. Now the little box just shows the thread title again 😕

I might get to the point where I like the changes, but it will take a long, long time. You took something that was easy to use and made it confusing and maybe not worth the trouble.

I've been through forum overhauls in the past, and always hated it for a time. But after gradually getting used to it, I would feel more comfortable.  It takes a little time to get used to a new layout, but trust me, the new features will improve the site!

(I can't remember when I ever wanted to go back after using a new site for just a few weeks)

For example...I've discovered "What's New" at the top.  So you can do this :

  • Select your favorite forums by going to the list of forums (the left column lists forum categories. Click on each of these to find the forums within them) click on the forums that are interesting to you. At the top of each one, there is a heart icon. Click on that to add it to follow. (you can also choose any notifications you want)
  • Click on "What's New"
  • Click on the gear button to the right.
  • Click on "Create New Stream" and select your preferences. Give it a name, then "save changes" at the bottom.
  • Click the little check-mark to make it the default view.
  • Bonus, if you are like me and want only to see what you want to see: right-click on your new stream, and bookmark it. Your bookmark will always go directly to your stream and nothing else!

Yeah! No more college/university, NCLEX etc... threads, or school nurse threads (sorry school nurses, your posts are very interesting, but once I go down one of your rabbit trails I've wasted way too much time! 😁

This feature alone is worth the 3 week downtime to me 💃🏼🙌🏼
