This is the one I have been fearing for two weeks( or longer) I know it is going to be a real challenge, but I think it is do-able. They arent cutting us much of a break due to a very short semester, but for each exam, the first 30 minutes we have to pull it out of our heads and for the second 30 minutes, we get to take it open-book. It will still be very difficult, because if we havent really read and know where to look for the information, that wont help much.
I really want to do good, and I am going to spend most of my waking time busting my butt on it.
Also, we are only having to do 27 chapters instead of 32. I still intend on learning what we dont have to do for the class. As far as the comprehinsive final, well, that could take the whold 4 hours of the class period. It will be a killer.

Thanks for wishing me luck. I will need it. LOL. A maniac I will be after this class. I woke up during the night last night and did some drug sheets. I spent most of the day today making flashcards, drug sheets, and reading some. I am mentally exhausted. I think I will just get a few I may be up tonight too. I did this last semester, and will probably continue with crazy sleep hours unless I start doing good again. If it starts even looking promising for me to get a B, I can start sleeping good again.
Texas Angel, Where are you taking your pharmacology class?Chantee'
At a community college about 5 minutes from my house.
The class sounds difficult, but if you study hard you should do well on your first test. The beginning of the semester is the worst since you have no idea how and what the teacher will ask on the first test. It is always almost killing me too....you can do it, yes you can. We will fly to Colorado tomorrow! I am looking forward to visit my husband.

texasangel. . .if you haven't already checked out these sites i'll list them again for you. you may find them helpful.
http://www.globalrph.com/ - has drug listings, instructions for iv dilutions in mixing piggyback meds, you can search for specific drugs (uses rxlist.com), or chose the drug table button to get lists of medications arranged by categories. clicking on the infectious disease button takes you to an infectious disease database arranged by disease which give you listings of antibiotic choices that can be used for treatment. there are a number of medical calculators here including one to calculate drip rates on some of the commonly used icu medications. there are also links to a video library.
http://www.edruginfo.com/qthome.htm - e-druginfo.com's gateway page into medi-quik construct-a-card. you need to register, but it's free. you have to input all the information yourself. this constructor merely prints it onto a pre-formatted form. in playing around with the constructor i found that you could not go back otherwise you lost your input data. i was able to shrink the finished card down to about 7" x 5" but my printer didn't print any border, or perhaps i just didn't know how to apply a border or shrink the card down smaller.
http://www.drugs.com/ - this site has a good number of the pdr monographs of medications although not all of them. you can get access to them at the alphabetic grid at the bottom of the home page of this site. a good reference site to have if you need professional information on specific drugs.

I will be taking this class in the fall! You will have some good tips for me maybe!! It does sound intense. When was your first class? Here are a few more links to add to Daytonite's .. I just kind of collected them in the past few weeks but have not explored them at all so hope they have at least some useful info. there! Basically where I'm at is "What is pharmacology?"
GL with the course! You can do it!!!
Thank you so much for those links Kayel and Daytonite. I really appriciate you both sharing those. I am very sure they will come in handy. I have my first exam Tuesday night and I have knocked myself out studying today. Other than the few breaks I took, I have been at it since about 8:30 this morning.
My first class was last Thursday night. It is very interesting. If there is anything I can help you with Kayel when you take the class, just ask, that is if I get through it. I could be taking it again right along with you.
