Hi all!
After applying for the last 6 months, I finally accepted my first job! The reason it took sooo long was because I kept getting the 'need at least 6 months to 1 year experience' rejection. (so frustrating) Now that I will start orientation tomorrow, I am so nervous! I will be working in an outpatient clinic at a military facility. Good news is that I am prior service so I understand a lot of the military jargon. However, because I am a bit of an perfectionist, I am afraid that the moment I do not do something correctly or do not know something I will beat myself up about it and become discouraged. Anyone else out there like this? I need some advice. Oh! I forgot to mention something else; the postion was for someone that had at least 1 year experience. The nurse that interviewed me knows that I have no experience and decided to put in her recommendation for me to get the job anyway. So, I also feel like tremendous pressure to "shine" because my lack of experience was overlooked. Talk about pressure!!! I am feeling it and have not started yet!

I think you will be fine. You have the well rounded skills of discipline, etc. that you learned in the military. Just treat people the way you want to be treated and trust your gut instincts.

Draw on your prior service experience, it isn't as hard as basic training. I also read you're a single parent of two - you know things don't go perfect all the time - dust yourself off and drive on.
