HI there!! Well, my first exam is finally here---Transitions...any advice??? I have studied all the practice teasdt questions and rationals, I have also read the text a few times. ( the highlighted parts that I know I need to study) I did horrible on the practice tests a few weeks ago so hopefully I brushed up enough!!!

Wish me luck!!!

Best wishes sent your way!

My advice is just to stay calm and stay focused. Just like on the NCLEX they put questions on there that don't count... they are just testing them to see if they would be good questions to use on future tests. But you don't know which questions count and which don't. So don't let it freak you out. I have walked out of there before thinking I bombed it and then they give me the printout and I passed.

Once you pass that first test, it's all down hill!! You'll be so motivated to knock out tests once you're done!!

My only advice is that you READ every single word of the questions and answers. I used to take my mouse and force myself to point to each word.

Good luck!

How many questions are on the exam? I thought just 100, if some aren't actual questions that matter then how many are? Yikes! I'm not too nervous actually, I just want to get it over with and move on the Health Safety or something more interesting!! I think I'm doing health safety next since I already have TCN guide for that (I got it handed down for free) :lol2: Thanks for the kids words!!!!:heartbeat

I believe all the nursing exams have 130 questions. I remember 1 or 2 exams that had 160 questions but that might have been anatomy and physiology. We don't know how many questions matter and how many don't. You will see on the second page of your printout when you leave that although you may get like 50-90% of questions correct in each section, you can still end up with an A or B. That is because they don't count them all. Anyway, hope I'm not saying too much and confusing you. Just relax and you'll be fine. Let us know how you do.

By the way... when I took my microbiology practice tests I got in the 50's for both of them. So I studied all the questions and the rationales the next day and then took my exam the day after that. I ended up getting an A on the exam. I have ranged anywhere from in the 50's to in the high 70's on my practice exams and I usually get B's. I don't know what you got on your practice tests but you will probably be fine.

Good luck!! Just go in confident, don't let your nerves get the best of you. You'll feel great when you get the first exam out of the way :)

You will have to let me know how Health safety was, That might be next for me! Transitions was a lot of orginizations/theorists/laws/ethics. Very dry material to study, nothing interesting at all!!! I'm glad I got it out of the way now!!

I got the book "Nursing in todays society" and that was enough for me, plus the practice exams--then studied those answers and rationals once I completed them. How many exams have you taken so far?

How was the transition test

It was OK- There were some things I never even studied on it. I got a C..not great, but passing so I'll take it. They rely emphasize ethics and roles in nursing I though. Also have to know all your orginizations and theorists! This one got me. I'm glad it's over that's all since it was my first exam I didn't know what to expect, but now I do.

Good luck on your exam! My next one will be health safety since I already have the study material for it. Hoping it's not so bad. Looking over it, it doesn't seem too bad.
