Well, yesterday was the first day of clinicals. After a few hours of CNA skill refreshers we were assigned a pt to pass meds to. Well I got a little man who had extreme difficulty swallowing. I was told to crush his pills and put them into some applesauce. On the med cart was a plastic container of applesauce and I proceeded to do as I was told. I mixed all the crushed pills into the whole cup of applesauce. After an HOUR of trying to feed this poor man the whole thing someone finally told me....."we just put a teaspoon of applesauce in a souffle cup and mix with that" OYYYY. So everyone got a good laugh at me expense today. But, he is a poor eater and needed the nutrition THATS MY STORY AND I"M STICKING TO IT!!!!!!!!!!! Bless his heart
Anyone else have some fun stories to share?

I've done that. Given a patient his meds in the WHOLE container...and played hunt for the meds to make sure he got all his pills. And I lost one in the container...so i had to feed him the whole thing, found it in the last spoonful...good times.

My first hospital clinical I set my pt up with his breakfast tray, opened up everything, made sure he was sitting up straight, encouraged him to eat and left to check on my other pts. I came back later to check on him and asked him why he hadn't eaten. He smiled and said " I need my teeth dear". Was my face red. Funny now but at the time I was mortified. At least the pt just laughed.
