I am hoping to get employment in a Dallas hospital, I have finished my course but unfortunately have to wait till OCT. 29th to take the state exam. Will hospitals consider employing someone in my situation? I am starting RN school in January and have my CPR and have taken basic health skills courses required for nursing school admittance. Should I start applying to hospitals or wait yet another month for my state certification? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would like to also see the relies. I'm taking the skills exam the end of the month as well.

I'll be following this discussion thread myself - I just finished a ten-week CNA course and I'm waiting for my letter of completion in the mail so I can schedule and sit for the state CNA boards (AZ). But HR at the hospital where I work has encouraged me to apply and interview for positions, so I'm in the process of doing that. Had one last week - didn't get the position but will probably have another interview sometime next week.
I say it doesn't hurt to start the process even though you may not have taken the certification exam yet, but are planning to soon......

I don't know about hospitals, but nursing homes will definitely hire you. Some nursing homes gives you four months employment until you pass the test... if you have taken a class.
