Hi all! I was recently put on probation for self reported diversion. I will be working with stipulations and under monitoring for the next 4 years. I know there are jobs out there that are monitoring friendly, but is that the same as being probation friendly?

from my understanding, yes
Thanks for responding! Naturally I'm quite nervous about applying for jobs. I keep seeing and hearing people talk about probation as being a "black mark" on their license and not being able to find a job while people strictly on monitoring seem to have all these options. I just want to know what I'm getting into really. How hard it going to be, the road blocks I'm going to run into.
It is a black mark (particularly if probation and not diversion), I won’t lie.
But nurses are in SUCH high demand, and the demand continues to increase.
You shouldn’t have a problem getting a job although it may take a bit more searching. Having good references, being forthcoming about your past, and a good work ethic with positive employment reviews will help
Best of luck

I think it just depends what the situation was that caused you to be on probation. Is it a felony type charge ?

It's not a criminal probation, its probation with the BON. I've found a few places that are OK with the mark on my license but it's been hard to find one that will work with all my stipulations. I'm still looking but I'm getting worried that I won't be able to find something until the narcotic stipulation is lifted. It's going to be a long year.
Ohhh. How much longer? Also what state are you?
I just entered entered into my contract. I have a full year left until my narcotic restrictions are lifted. I also have other restrictions such as the need to have a supervisor, I'm not allowed to be a preceptor, and I'm not allowed to work in certain settings. I applied for dialysis but they turned me down because they have a high turn over rate and I would need to be able to become preceptor at some point and I would end up being in the building without a supervisor. The other positions I've applied for turned me down due to the narcotic restrictions. It's been a month so far but I'm still hopeful! I'm in arkansas.
I've seen a lot of probation nurses get jobs with dialysis and case management. Maybe try a different dialysis company?? Best of luck

Hi, I’m in the same boat as the original poster. In the past few months I’ve sent out hundreds of applications and no one wants to touch me with a ten foot pole. I’ve tried dialysis, rehabs, LTC, all the big hospitals in my area with no luck. I got a job at the local supermarket to pay bills which is great but it’s not my calling. I’m still hopeful but it is disappointing.

Try plasma centers. They do not have narcs at all. Also, maybe a doctor office or clinic.
