Ok, so I just have to vent:( I am nearing the end of my first semester and decided to stop by the financial aid office to check on my financial aid for next summer. I found out that since the summer semester of our program has "fewer" credit hours" we will receive less financial aid. I did apply for a summer loan but that covered only $1670. I have a deficit of $1555, which is due in 3 wks. Has anyone else experienced this? About me: I am married, no children, I have never qualified for a pell grant. I have been applying for several scholarships my school offers but I'm not sure that will help:(

When I was first in college I wasn't married and had no kids. I paid for everything, but yet had to claim my parents income when I did my FASFA (I was working full time and helping paying my Mom's bills even at the time). I didn't get squat. I took out student loans to survive. I wish you luck. I know it's not uncommon to face this with the summer classes.

Can you not apply for a private student loan to cover the deficit? Financial service providers such as Wells Fargo, Chase, Citibank, Bank of America and local credit unions issue student loans all the time.

I had to apply for a student loan with sallie Mae. No kids and still considered a dependent. I'm glad I did the monthly payments are very doable.
