Last week EC sent me a check in the mail for over a thousand dollars. Just wondering did anyone else receive this? Should I go ahead and cash this check? I know I should call EC but I'm so busy, I don't have time to stay on hold.
I received a scholarship in the pass it paid for three exams. I just thought we nursing students didn't get TAP which is what I got a check for in addition to the scholarship.:typing:typing:typing:typing
Am I the only one who got a scholarship and financial aid money???

I would definety call and see where the scholarship money came from. You can send them a email if you can't wait on the phone. I am excited for you because that is a true blessing to recieve free money! You definetly deserve it! That just cut your CPNE expense in half. What a great surprise!

hope i'm not completely out of the loop here, but i was looking for excelsior scholarship info and stumbled upon this thread. it is my understanding that the school itself awards scholarships *i believe* each quarter. when they received my fafsa info, they sent me an email reminding me that i am ineligible for federal $$ through the rn program, but they will review my stats in august, december and so forth for possible scholarships through the school so, that being said, i am hopeful that later this year, i will be blessed with some surprise money as well! good luck, all!!

I'm with you, Jules. I just cashed out 50 hours of PTO time at work to pay for school!

Wow, you can do that? I'd love to be able to do that -- I have 160 hours of PTO! LOL!! And if I could get into my "extended illness bank" (where they put our "sick leave" when they merged vacation and sick into one "PTO" account) I'd be all set -- I have 223 hours in the EIB. I can only use that if I exhaust my PTO. What a crock!
I hope you all get scholarships!! That would rock. I got a scholarship from my hospital's Ladies Board in 2007 that totally removed the financial obstacles for me to do EC's program. That was great!

Just wondering how this panned out...cause I got a Military Spouse scholarship shortly after you posted this and it was good to pay for 3 exams ($705). I, a few weeks later, got a DOD 'scholarship' which also pays for my all of my exams up to 6K. I was told the only thing that an EC Scholarship can pay for is something 'in house'...so I had the DOD pay for the rest of my exams and had the scholarship cover the rest of my practice exams. They also told me that if I wasnt going to use every penny of it, to let them know so they could give it to another student....cause they couldnt send me a check for the difference...Hmmm....
i am hopeful for a couple of scholarships here, but the board is partial to the local rn program, so i'm just keeping my fingers crossed there....my job will pay at least $5000, but i have to sign a 3 year contract--so terrible, considering the economy and state of jobs right now, please, force me to work as an rn in my own department for 3 years, or write off my "loan"...despair! but, if ec wants to throw some in the mix, i'm pretty sure that i'm early enough in my program that one of ec's departments will be glad to spend it for me!
We lost our EIB - the hospital took it away from us. Also, they won't pay for my schooling because I had a write up. Same for work scholarships. Luckly, I used up my federal financial aid already. Other than that, I'm getting ready to cash out the last savings bonds I have.

I submitted my FAFSA and my EFC is 0 thanks to my husband being laid off currently and other circumstances. Excelsior sent me an email saying I would be considered for scholarships and to check on August 15 to see if I was awarded one. Is that normal or do you think I may really get one?
