Congrats! It's a great feeling but also a bit overwhelming because there's a lot of multi-tasking to do. Give it time, it'll all become second nature :)

I hope so. I swear one of my preceptors has vampire speed!!!! She can do 30 things at once and it's all magically charted by the time it's all done!

congrats ! i worked labor for a year and a half.......im a NICU nurse, but for some strange reason i 'had' to learn labor ( and it was about a year and a half too long to do it ! :: ) . but the best, and scariest, 2 days was during my orientation ( thank goodness ) and i got to deliver 2 babies with no doctor! it was thrilling, adrenaline rushing, and terrifying, all in one......i thanked the heavens my preceptor was with me. and as exciting, etc, as that was, i'm glad i will never have to do it again.......i'll stick to my sick babies !

Will you ever get a chance to participate in a natural birth without pit or sutures? Helping a woman birth her child without drugs, scissors, scapels or stitches is one of the most exhilarating jobs I have ever done.

I so hope I do!!!! Probably not here though. I am hugely in favor of minimal meds and letting mom do her thing (after all we've done it since the beginning of time) but I think they hurry our patients along too much sometimes :(
