Hey everyone,
So I took my NCLEX-RN yesterday and I walked out of there feeling very sure that I failed. The computer shut off after 75 questions and I remembered some of the questions I was unsure about and looked them up and 99 percent sure I got those wrong. I don't have much of a support system so my anxiety is through the roof as I don't have anyone to talk to that can understand my feelings about this terrible test lol. I have a lot riding on passing this, including a move, a new job, and everything in between. What are some of y'alls experiences with people getting 75 questions? I know the amount doesn't necessarily mean you passed, but I need any sort of encouragement I can get to deal with this brutal wait. Thanks so much!!

Hey there!
I wrote my exam on April 5 with 88 questions, and I also felt the exact same way in that I walked out of the building feeling defeated. It's understandable for us, considering that this is the single most important exam before finally becoming an RN, in addition to all the time spent studying and money spent! My anxiety was off the roof because I WAITED UNTIL APRIL 18 for my exam results! Where I live, it is normal to wait up to 2 weeks to get your results... and it so happened that a long weekend landed on the "2 week" period so my nursing board was closed for like 3 additional days which resulted in me waiting even longer lol.
Otherwise, you know already that the exam can go either way. There is no point in contemplating if you failed or passed because that thought will only bring you down. It is best to do EVERYTHING possible to not think about them. Start watching movies, television series, do some physical sports, etc.
I initially did also feel like I failed. I even looked up some questions, and I was determined that I got many of the questions wrong! It only made me feel confident that I had failed the exam, and I was just waiting for my "failed" email result. But I passed! So just do what I did, take your mind away from the NCLEX because it will tear you up. Even if it doesn't go the way you wanted it too, it's not the end of the world!

Hey there,
I took the NCLEX yesterday and mine cut off at 75 too. I do know from reading this forum and talking with nurses, that if it cuts off at 75, you more than likely passed. The test is designed to be difficult because remember if you get a question right, it gives you a harder one. So the computers ultimate goal is to have you miss every other question so it can decide where you "ceiling" of competency is. Take deep breathes because I'm sure you passed. It's ok to miss questions. Another tip is if the questions gave scenarios, had you evaluate priority in terms of "who do you see first," evaluate teaching, etc; those are the types of questions above the passing line.
Hope this helps calm your nerves :)
Thank you both for your kinds words and suggestions. That does make me feel better. I spent the day at the pool with friends which definitely helped keep my mind off things. The state I live in does do quick results so I should be able to get them this weekend, as I think they are updated over the weekend as well?? I will keep everyone updated though. There's no way I could wait two weeks though!! Must've been absolute torture lol
