Feeling a little defeated...and exhausted with studying!!

Updated:   Published

Hi All!!

I'm taking my Nclex-RN on July 11th....5 days away!! I am excited and extremely anxious all at the same time. I've been taking Kaplan On-Demand for the last few months and feel completely exhausted!! It seems that I'm doing about the same on all the qbank questions (avg'ing high 50s-low 60s). The goal appears to be a cumulative 60%....however, am feeling less confident about my test taking ability after the low scores. I graduated with high honors and am used to exceeding in all I do. I know that the NCLEX test does not and usually won't reflect how well you did in school, its just a different way of scoring than I'm used to.

There has been a lot of talk about Kaplan and qtrainer/qbank scores as well as Kaplan seemingly being more difficult than the actual test.

Any thoughts on that last statement?...and what were some of the avg scores that you've all rec'd from Kaplan practice testing?....and of course...did you pass?

Thanks for the input...and letting me vent!! ?

Hi! I took the Kaplan live review course the last week in May and sat for the NCLEX today. I did all the Kaplan online Qtest and QBank questions. On the Qtrainer my scores ranged from 58 to 70 and my Q bank cumulative was 66. I thought the exam questions were very similar in style to Kaplan. The actual NCLEX did not seem as intimidating to me as I thought it would be. It stopped at 75 questions, and I won't know for 3 days (my state does not have fast results) although I got the good pop up from Pearsonvue. So try to relax and just keep doing questions! Good luck to you!

I thought the Kaplan questions were harder. I did QT 1-7 and scored in the mid-60s. I did ALL of the question bank and averaged 58%. I find out my official results tomorrow but I got the good pop up.

Thanks for the good wishes and sensei07 for the info...sounds similar to mine...and congrats!! You passed. Haven't heard the good pop up ever come up for someone who didn't. I'm just trying to take one hour at a time and not get myself worked up....three days to go!!

Good luck!!! i am taking it the 13th

I also printed this NCLEX study guide (through Staples for $4). Seriously best $4 I've ever spent. I read it Tuesday morning, Tuesday afternoon, and the morning of my test. It just really helped reinforced a lot of the facts that I already read from reading Kaplan rationales. It also has a lot of helpful mnemonics.

I passed...unofficially! 75 ? and good pop up. Kaplan really worked for me....however, walked out of the test feeling like I didn't know anything!

Thanks for lifting my spirits before the big day!!!!
