FCCJ Fall 2008

Published

Hello all! Just thought I'd start a thread for all of those folks that have submitted, or are getting ready to submit, their applications for FCCJ's Fall '08 term.

I will be submitting my application in a few weeks, when this Spring term ends. I have taken my NAT (twice), so I'm good to go there, but still need to get my CPR class done. I called several places & I'm waiting to hear back from them.

I look forward to chatting with & getting to know all of you, who will be doing the count-down with me... on getting our acceptance letters!!!

I know it helps to sound-board off each other & to lean on each other for support... especially with getting all the things done that we have to do!

Best of luck & success to all!!!

You guys rock my socks!

Sooo, 11 more days till orientation!!!

I used to worry about what teachers to take, but now I'm more worried about which hours I'll get... I don't make enough as it is. I figure if I have to, I can try to skate this out on loans.

Specializes in none.

Can some one fill me in on worksource?? I have tuition taken care of through Bright Futures, but I just saw that they have enough funding for books. How do I go about getting this and are there any commitments that we have to them after school?? Thanks in advance you guys!!

You have to go to your nearest worksource and give them proof that you've filled out FAFSA, your (or your parents, if dependent) tax info and birth certificate/id. Call before you go and they'll let you know. You might have to disclose the Bright Futures, not sure. Your case will be reviewed and then they'll let you know. The commitment is that you turn in a timesheet for going to classes, signed by teachers. You have to keep a 3.0 GPA (I think). Or maybe that was what you need to apply? Anyway, then you commit to get a job within 90 days of completing the program. They follow up a couple times for 12, 18 mo after graduating. Call them soon - good luck!

I am getting the countdown on both ends since orientation is on my oldest daughters 12th birthday! She will be in Texas for a wedding but I still keeping hearing the countdown. I just cannot get over she is going to be 12!

Specializes in SNF / med/surg-tele.

Hey everyone...can someone PM me the passcode for Meridy's? If its the same for everyone...Thanks!

They grow up so fast!! My niece is going to be ten this year!! I can't believe it! It seems like just a little while ago that she was just a little one year old who decided to open a full jug of coolaid into her cereal (and all over the carpet), lol. I still miss being called Anty Onyo- instead Aunty Danielle. At least the youngest niece still calls me T-T Anyelle.

But don't they just make you all kinds of proud?? So smart and just... their own people with their own ideas. (You can tell I didn't babysit this weekend, I miss them too much!)

okay I have a question, I recieve a pell grant so my tuition is paid for but not books, sooooo do you guys think work source would step in on that part of the deal....just wondering cause if it doesnt have to come out of my pocket that would be smashing!

You'll have to call worksource and find out. I think they might cover what a pell grant doesn't, but I'm not sure.

Specializes in Intensive Care Unit.

Awesome, awesome.

Can I go to the Worksource at the FCCJ campuses? Is that where you guys went?

And what about our chill day at Panera? Did it happen yet? LoL.

I am happy to be done with all this applicant stuff!! I'm just so relieved. All thats left is the shirt and stat-line stuff. Oh and the rest of the not included supplies. Hope everyone is doing well!

I also wanted to know where worksource could be found. I hope I can go to Kent Campus...thats sooo much closer to where I live.

I think the Panera get together fell apart because everyone got sooo busy with getting their stuff together. I was originally the one that wanted to have a get together and would still be up for it. Would anyone still like to do our lil Panera get together?? Actually we could do it right after we get done with Orientation #1, somewhere down Dunn Avenue. That way its convenient for everyone and our schedules are already cleared for the day. At least the first half of the day anyways. lol..I still have to go to work later that day. What do you guys think??

I think that is an awesome idea! I was planning to get lunch somewhere that day as a mini-celebration anyways before going back to work.
