FCCJ Fall 09 RN

Hello all! Hopefully all of you out there accepted to the Fall 2009 RN program at FCCJ will join me on this thread so we can help each other out. I went today to get my pants and found some of the white ones (come in petites and tall with flared legs and slits to fit over our shoes, Cherokee brand, $13.99) at Uniform Outlet at the St Augustine outlet mall. They also carry the pocket organizers (with flat scissors and pen light included), stethoscope (inexpensive ones, so they may not be of the quality you are looking for) and all the BP cuff things we need.

I am waiting until orientation to order my polo and uniformed top so that we may be able to try them on. Does anyone know what is included in the skills kit and if they will be available at orientation?

I am getting excited and can't wait to meet everyone!

I think only 1 class specified about reading the weeks material before class. It definitely is a ton..assessments book is the physical examination and health assessment book by jarvis. Fundamentals of nursing by potter/perry is for concepts. All I focused on was the flash cards so far on the med term. They don't seem too bad.

do the quizes and exam on evollve for med term it helps out soooooooo much!!!

Thanks everyone for posting the readings- I know what I'll be doing this weekend! I checked again this morning and pharmacology is finally up on blackboard- 40 page syllabus! What have we gotten ourselves into? Good luck studying this weekend!

did anyone else buy their white pants somewhere other than meridys?? bc i had my orientation this morning since i missed the 1st 1 and i was told we HAD to order them online at meridys.

I got mine in St Augustine at the outlets. I think they were cheaper than Meridy's had them.

How did you get into Evolve? I keep logging on using my username and password I received via e-mail, but then it asks for a key under the licensing agreement before I can access any material...ahhh I am frustrated already!:banghead:

I am having problems with evolve too. I can log-in with my username and password, but I can't figure out what to do with the access. I need like click here, click there directions apparently! lol

I bought my pants at life uniform. I thought they said we could buy them elsewhere, but I may have misunderstood, maybe I was thinking about the kahkis. I know students in previous terms that had bought there white scrub pants from Meridy's but said they fit terribly, so they had to go buy others.

i dont know how to get onto evolve either someone said the practice quizzes are good but it says to enter a key... anyone help?

The Key is inside the little booklet that comes with your medical term book. It is sealed seperately and it will say access code or something in bold lettering on the inside page. I bought my pants from the uniform store and from my understanding my friend is already in the program and she told me that you dont have to buy the pants from meridys. I am glad I purchased my stuff elsewhere because no one will know how the items will fit, I sure dont even if I know what my measurements are. The Evolve helps out a ton!!!!! As far as what to focus on for the medical term part, it is in the independent study and it will say what to focus on and what to emit and it has the same for the dosage calc!

thanks tiara... Was also sent an access code to us in an email and that is one i tried entering... i wonder what that access code is for?

I think the access code that the nursing tutor sent us was the administrative login, but the student access key number is where Tiara mentioned. I think the administrative login probably allows them to access more areas in Evolve than our access code.

that makes sense. my concepts class still hasn't posted on blackboard yet and i really wanted to have everything printed off and ready to go... but i did read the chapters for techniques class and going to read for concepts next. someone said chapters 1 and 8? is that correct for the reading for concepts?
