Farewell, nursing school...

Published

Specializes in Med/Surg, L&D.

I have 20 hours of clinical, a simulation and one reflective journal before my journey in nursing school is over on Friday. So I wanted to say my farewells to

*My leadership preceptor. Thank you for letting me have my independence, teaching me new things and being a friend.

*My classmates. It has been so fun to get to know you and encouraging to have you there to vent to.

*Late nights doing care plans. I will not miss you!

*Reading nursing notes out loud to my infant son. I can't wait to read him children's books instead.

*The clinical placement office. Seriously, get your act together.

*Online discussion postings (with references). There is only so much you can say about delegation. What a waste of my time.

*Pointless busy work. Now I can actually learn pragmatic things in the workplace.

*My CNA job. Thanks for being flexible with me and giving me a lot of great experience, but my sense of smell and back will be glad to see you go.

*The ten thousand emails I get from the school every day, mostly repeating and recalling the same email over and over again. Never again will I have to sift through the physical therapy fundraiser announcements, calls for research participants and announcements about lost sunglasses to find pertinent information.

*The coffee cart on the bridge. Thank you for facilitating my wakefulness through 8 hours of lecture.

*The crazy admin assistant at the front desk. No, I don't think that my aura has anything to do with what kind of job I will get.

*Buying ridiculously expensive books that I never read. Well, I guess I stopped doing this a while ago when I realized I could look up any information I need on the school library website.

*Commuting over an hour to go to clinical after 4 hours of sleep. Bye!

*Signing SN after my charting!

*The ridiculous parking situation on campus!

*Student loan refunds... I will miss you. I don't look forward to paying you back.

*All the clinical instructors, preceptors and nursing instructors. Thanks for teaching me what kind of nurse I want to be, sometimes by showing me what kind of nurse I don't want to be.

*My advisor. You have helped me get through this process relatively unscathed. Thank you, and I cried when I read your letter of recommendation for me.

Any other recent or soon to be grads have any farewells to say?

my list was similar, but would also include a mental bonfire to get rid of those ^&*#$ uniforms that made 115# (then) me look like either a bowling ball on legs or a scullery maid (but, hopefully, not both!):rolleyes:
