Fall 2010 UCLA MECN applicants share your comments/concerns

Published

Just a reminder for whoever interested in applying to fall 2010 UCLA MECN program, the deadline is Nov. 2, 2009.

Let me share my story. I mailed my application to UCLA SON two weeks ago via certified mail. I thought I could track my package on USPS website. However, it only showed that the postal service received my package and there was no more further info regarding the arrival at UCLA. I panicked and called the USPS three times with three different phone #s. And I went to my local postal office to recall my package. NO LUCK. They told me to call PO with 90095 zip code. Finally, I talked to the right person who worked in the Village postal in Westwood. He said UCLA had its own postal service system and it did not conform any kind of mailing. I was sort of relief that knowing my package was with UCLA SON. This is my first time applying to MECN. Anyone who is re-applicant out here, do you mind share your previous experience with UCLA-MECN?

Hi there,

I am also applying to UCLA's MECN program... I actually just mailed my envelope today via certified mail too! But I'm sure that your application, and mine on it's way, will get there safely.

May I ask where you are from? My name's Liz, I currently live in San Diego but grew up all my life in Los Angeles. I've been obsessing about my applications to different Master's Entry level nursing programs since last year... and now it's just the waiting game! Nervewracking!

Thanks for starting this thread :)

hi Liz,

I am Amy and live in LA county (south bay area). Just got the email from Shelli yesterday stating that they received my app. I am sure yours will get to UCLA next Monday or so.

UCLA had about 490 applicants last year and they expected to have 600 applicant this year. The competition is extremely high. Are you reapplying or first time apply? I don't put too hope into it even though I really want to get in.

Hate the waiting game! but there is nothing I can do.

a 2010 ucla mecn thread! supar!

just to go w/ the flow of things, Hi, Im Joseph. 4th year at ucsd. originally from irvine.

i was actually glad ucla uses your personal statement as your interview. i mean, i already have enough to attend, and not exactly a huge fan of them.

anyways, good luck ladies

march just seems like a year from now.

where else did you apply, liz & amy?

hi joseph the "jojoba",

i applied to CSUN, CSUF, CSULB and couple of CC. just got an email from one of CC that didn't get into the spring semester and probably have to wait until the fall.

i am preparing for the TEAS test since CSULB & CC require it and still don't know when to take (waiting for CC to give me the exact date). :(

just like you guys, waiting...

I just applied to UCLA's MECN last month, as well. I can't believe we need to wait until at least March! Since my GPA isn't the greatest, except for my prereqs, I'm hoping that my personal statement will be heavily weighted.

I also applied to CSUN's ABSN, MSMC ABSN and Johns Hopkins. I was thinking of applying to SF State and CSULA. However, I've been really turned off by CSULA and at last check it doesn't seem they are going to offer a MECN program in 2010. Oh yeah, I'm officially on Santa Monica College's waiting list, looks like I can enter sometime in 2011. I really hope it doesn't come down to that.
