Fall 2019 Lonestar Hopefuls

Published

Hey everybody. I'm not sure if it's too early but I'm making this page for anybody who is applying to the nursing program at Lonestar College for the Fall of 2019. Looks like Montgomery, Cyfair, and North Harris have applications from Jan 7-April 12. Good luck to everyone!

Wow thank you so much for the tips! I wish you best of luck in your nursing journey!

No problem at all, G_c! I remember when I was studying for the HESI just weeks ago and I was so scared. I had never taken a test as long as the HESI or with so much on the line. When I enrolled in Lonestar I had to take the TSI, but the pressure was not as high. I was really nervous so I read everything I could about the test and watched videos about people who had taken it.

From what happened to me personally, I feel that the Elsevier book was not enough for me and was grateful that I came across the Boost Prep course in time. I only had about 3 days left before my test before I got the Boost prep course so I didn't even have it the whole time. I was just desperately hoping that I had studied what I needed. I saw someone talking about it online and I'm glad I did.

The Elsevier book was very helpful, don't get me wrong. The math was especially helpful and so was the vocabulary and the reading etc. The main place where Elsevier fell short was on Anatomy & Physiology portion. It was very basic and now after taking the HESI, I know I would not have obtained the score I did had I not had that extra cushion of information. The boost prep has many practice tests as well for all subjects except critical thinking, which really helped. We're in this together, yall.

FIVE DAYS OUT!!!

i think this gif covers my excitement and nervousness too!! I’m a wreck over here!!

Hey guys! I did an update. I hope I was able to cover some of your questions. One thing I forgot to add since someone wanted to know my score of what got me into the program. I had a 7.8 and my girlfriend had a 6.6. She was waitlisted but was called and offered a spot days after the acceptance letters went out. So those of you who may feel like your scores aren't good enough, hang in there you don't know the plans God has for you. Much love & best of luck to you all. It's almost that time!!!

I agree with @Lightbulb7Seven The hesi books helped to an extent as far as brushing up basic concepts and math skills (helped alot with math actually) but I used online sources just googling random quizzes/tests/reviews to further prepare myself.

I agree the hesi books only helped me enough for math and there were a couple of vocabulary words i actually saw on the test . Other then that it doesn’t help that much , but quizlet helped me a lot . And pocket prep didn’t help as much .Its good to use both for a refresher , to me I felt like I over studied with those materials compared to the exam
