Fall 2019 Lonestar Hopefuls

Published

Hey everybody. I'm not sure if it's too early but I'm making this page for anybody who is applying to the nursing program at Lonestar College for the Fall of 2019. Looks like Montgomery, Cyfair, and North Harris have applications from Jan 7-April 12. Good luck to everyone!

I used pocket prep and Elsevier hesi book ... which still didn't help me as much.

Like right there on the spot?

Well they went over information like classes then after everybody that paid for it had to take it then (it was required to pay for the drug test prior to going) and I may be wrong, but if you didn’t take it at orientation, your spot was automatically taken away.

Does anyone know how long after acceptance orientation is? Or does it differ by campus

According to last fall’s forum each campus had it at different times

Gc_nurse, I recently posted in another thread about the Hesi. There is plenty of info on here, but I'll repost my contribution and I hope it helps.

I just completed my HESI A2 on February 21, 2019. What helped me the most was a program on the Boost Prep website especially for HESI preparation. Here is the link to the course I studied from:

https://www.boostprep.com/product/hesi-a2-core-anatomy-physiology-bundle/

I also used a test prep book I ordered on Amazon by Elsevier. Here is a link to the book I used (I used the 4th edition, not the third which is in this link):

https://www.amazon.com/Admission-Assessment-Exam-Review-HESI/dp/1455703338/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

If I had to choose which resource was most helpful, I would go with the boost prep course. It had a more comprehensive anatomy & physiology section and great interactive learning activities. It also had several different practice exams for each subject. I studied for less than a month, and was able to obtain a 92.4% overall. My school requires the critical thinking section as well, which you cannot really study for. I have no nursing experience, and was able to score an 850 (out of 1000, so it would be an 85%) on that part.

The HESI A2 was intimidating to me, but it really was not as horrendous as I had imagined. I would definitely say so if it had been. Taking practice tests and just familiarizing myself with the material really did help me to sharpen my skill set to take the test. Best of success Gc_nurse!

Wow thank you so much for the tips! I wish you best of luck in your nursing journey!

This may be a dumb question but does anyone know if we can change the ranking of the schools on our application? Can we email them or something to change it?

Once you submit the application you can’t make any changes

Usually you can’t but it doesn’t hurt to email them and ask. The worst they can say is no
