Hi All. I'm totally new to allnurses, so I may be doing this all totally wrong... but we'll try it out.
In May 2013 I graduated with a BSN with a 3.3 GPA. After graduation I did the ATI review and was required to do the 6 week version. I took my first NCLEX exam in September, and did not pass it I told my-self to keep going, so I scheduled it right at the 45 day line and just took it November 15. I just found out a few hours ago that I also did not pass this one. The second time around I still used my ATI access to study, and then also did random questions from different review books that I have sitting around. I'm unsure of what to do now. I'm also worried about failing it again and then that being my 3 failed attempts and having to do another refresher program through a university/college.
Does anyone have any advice for me, or know anything about the 3 failed attempts thing?

I'm studying for my second time. You need to know what you need help on. Do you know your content? If not Hurst review is a great way to learn content. Or do you need strategy's to help answer the questions? Kaplan is a great resource for strategies. Just keeping doing questions. Google Nclex 3500. They have a ton of questions that you can do online.

I failed as well in Oct 2013 and it took me 30 days to come up with the money,I was shocked that it let me register before my 45 days was up and it gave me an appt as soon as Nov 2013.I decided to wait till Dec 2013,but I have read nurses post they failed 4 and 5 times and didnt mention anything abuot a refresher course.I honestly dont think they care if we take a refresher course or not THEY JUST WANT OUR $$$$$$$
Continue to do lots of questions is my suggestion, thats what Im doing and I failed and preparing to retest in Dec 2013

Refresher courses all depends on your state BON guidelines
Do you know about the state of Illinois and their guidelines? Or how do I go about finding this out?
You can pay right away, my first time I paid it like 5 days after (once I let it set in). Your ATT just doesn't allow you to sign up for a date that's available before the 45 days.
And yes, your right about the money. I felt pretty good about both of my tests when I walked out of the testing center and I'm so mad about it, I keep thinking that they failed me to get more money. lol
Look online on the Illinois BON website or get the number from off the site & call to see. They should be willing to help

Illinois sucks when it comes to the nclex. You have to take a refresher course at a two year college if you failed your boards after the third try. However many people just go to a state like Iowa or NY they don't have a limit on how many time you can take the test. I live in Chicago. I am preparing to take it for the second time in dec 2013. I wish you the best of luck

Keep your hopes up!
The first time I took NCLEX, I used hurst. I felt really good with content, but I learned I was lacking in strategic test taking skills.
So this time around, I changed my study habits.
My plan included: re-listening to the hurst lectures (these were so awesome and helpful!), using the Saunders CD-ROM for questions (then referring to the book if I needed further clarification in a specific area), Lacharity PDA book (go through the entire book! It is incredibly helpful and I believe really helped me on NCLEX!!!), and lots of breaks & prayers! Allow yourself to relax :)
Good luck!!!!!! You will pass next time!
