Hello,

I recently took the Np boards- AANP. I failed on the first try. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on where to go from here. I took the Fitzgerald course and it was no help when taking the boards. Any clue on other review courses i could take in order to pass successfully next time I attempt NP boards?

Sincerely,

Nette

I failed AANP too. First time. I buckled down, listened to Amelie Hollier review 3 times, did the Leik questions. Took AANC and passed! I actually liked the ANCC certification better! Good luck! Keep your chin up!!

@Nette, I can imagine the disappointment you are feeling. You are not alone in failing the boards.

Leik is essential. Buy the app, do questions every day. They have a review. Hollier and Barkley reviews really helped me as well. I found Fitzgerald too distracting.

Now that you've already taken it, you know what to expect. You can do this!

Sorry to hear this.  I did Barkley (bought a used older version cause i'm cheap)   and it was fabulous.   I have heard that Fitzgerald goes too indepth for the boards.   I also had the Leik book and app.   I saw multiple questions that seemed word for word on my test.   I felt well prepared for the Aanp and had good scores in all sections when I got the breakdown .

I recently took the AANP boards and passed. I couldn't afford the hollier review I downloaded the leik app and paid 70 dollars to have full access. This was very helpful. Maybe you could try this. Good luck!

I had to drive cross country from school back to home, so I bought the Barkley review course on CD with the workbook and listened to the CDs multiple times on the drive home.  Then I listened to them all again at home, going along with the workbook and taking notes.  The CDs are a great way to review when driving or doing other things around the house.  I still listen to them sometimes as a refresher.

I supplemented each chapter with the Leik book and Fitzgerald.  I also used the Hollier test questions book - old, but still good.  Along the way I made up flash cards, reviewed those.

I also used medical mnemonics.  There are websites, apps, and books for those, and I also made up my own - great to help memorize.

Finally, I allowed ample time to study.  Studied a few hours a day for 8 weeks.

Passed AANP Adult and Geri on first try.  Hang in there!  Good luck on your next exam.
