Hello All--I took the nursing boards twice and failed both times--I am at a loss as to what to do. I graduated in May of 07 from a 4-year program and I took the Kaplan review but that did not help me the first time--the second time, I did the Lippincott 3500 cd and although I did better in that second test, I still did not pass. I have worked so hard to graduate from school and I am now at a complete loss as to what I should do--I was advised to take the LPN and work as one for now and to take my time to study once again for the RN, but like I said, I am not sure where to start anymore. Any advice would really be appreciated.

I would recommend taking one of the classroom prep courses. It took my son 3 tries and he is one of the best nurses I know. Not everyone tests well, and some schools do not prepare us for the Boards as well as others. Self-study doesn't work for everyone, and the prep classes often give you little tips and shortcuts for reasoning out the "best right answer". Don't give up....

Moving this thread to the NCLEX Forum where you will be able to get more help.
Do not believe in taking the PN exam for you as it requires a completely different preparation and the subject matter covered is different from what you have covered in your exams.
Would focus on passing the RN exam, people do it all of the time and so can you. Please check out the First Tip my program that is posted in a sticky on this thread. It may be beneficial for you.
Best of luck in what ever you decide to do.

Oh my Silvermist, I am sorry for you! I think I just recently read on this site about someone who finally passed after something like six tries? I don't have particular advise for you, but I bet many will. This is a great place for you to air your woes. I took my boards way back when (1982). So much has changed since then. It was a day and a half of testing, very draining. I am telling you: DO NOT GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAM! Hopefully others will share their stories with you. So many have been in your shoes. Chin up and best to you!

I can see why you feel down, but if you study really hard you will pass.
if you cant' pass the RN test, why would you want to take the LPN boards, they are just as hard!

I really think that you should get the Saunder's book and do the first step of Suzanne's plan. It will help you to identify your weaknesses, which is the first step in being adequately prepared for the test.

Well, join the club i failed 3 times!.... I just took it again on the 16th of Jan and i think i failed again, i'm not even gonna waste my money and check it online. the computer just shut off at 217, i was ****** and i cried the entire train ride home.... i dont know what else to do. i graduated w/ a 3.2 bachelors in may. I've done it all...ATI, Kaplan (classroom and online) courses, lippincott, prayer, fasting and now im about to get on track and do Suzannes plan, its my last resort. I've been going through so much regarding this exam, im losing weight (104lbs), i have acne and i never had acne not even in H.S......... i'm at the point where im actually ****** off about failing so many times and i refuse to fail again, im gonna stick with suzzanes plan and see if it works,no, it WILL WORK, i am also starting a health plan where i'm gonna force my self to eat at least 3 meals a day, take vitamins, at least 2L H2O/day and exercise the stress away, we'll see what works.... But trust me ur not alone! Thank God for the person who created this site. Its therapeutic to just get it all out through this forum, all my friends have passed and are working fulltime, i feel soo left out, incompetent, etc...

Welcome to the site
Might seem a bit harsh but check your results before you start planning studying again. You may have passed. If you have failed then you can sort yourself out and get started with a plan. Suzanne's plan has been very successful with many passing
Good luck

All of you please do yourself a favor and use Suzanne's Plan, you won't regret it. So many have passed with her plan, including myself, that you owe it to yourself give it a try. If you finish early and still have a little time prior to testing get the book Priorities, Delegation and Assignments to help with those type of questions. Suzanne's plan all the way is my advise. Good Luck!!!

SilverMist, I am sorry to hear that you have failed. You will pass this exam because you have made it through nursing school and that means that you are a candidate, so get the LPN thing out of your head. Every day write the word RN behind your name when you doodle. Pray for guidance and try other alternatives. Some great things that I tried were the audio CDs by Feuer @ f-n-r.net & the NCSBN website.
Whatever you do, don't give up..go at this thing with all of your might because you have to pass....think positive!:redpinkhe
