Hi everyone, I have failed the nclex-rn numerous times and my next step is just to take the nclex-pn so I can start woking and get my foot in the nursing door. I know everyone says that I should just keep studying for the RN because that's what I went to school for and what not but this would be my other option. And I'm not going to give up on getting my RN.
So I am looking for any advice on what I would have to do. I'm taking my boards in CA. And any study advice would be very much appreciated as well. Thanks!

I took the NCLEX-PN in 2005 and the NCLEX-RN in 2010. The NCLEX-PN was about the same level of difficulty as the NCLEX-RN, so you are headed down the wrong path if your intent is to take an easier exam. Both require intense study. Studying for NCLEX is like taking on a part-time job: you must devote a significant amount of your personal time to it.
My suggestion is to enroll in the Hurst Review. It is an NCLEX review course with a 98% success rate for nurses who are educated in the U.S. They offer a four-day classroom review, an online review, and a DVD review. If you want to attend the classroom review, you might have to travel to wherever they are.

Thanks for your advice. I have taken the hurst review and the kaplan review and still no luck.

I would also advise you not to look at the NCLEX PN as an easier row to hoe. My friends who took both exams, to a person, stated the PN exam was harder (although I believe it could have been because, taking the PN exam first, they had a harder time on their first NCLEX try). Good luck.

I retake the nclex pn on tuesday and got the good pop up. I used Hurst review online and Kaplan Qbank (didn't even open the book it came with). I should mention that I graduate back in 2009. First time i failed it I know I didn't study good enough. The second time, I studied for a month every day. I listened to hurst topics over and over and over. And youtube if i want to understand the disease more like heart diseases. I do 205 practice questions every morning using Exam Cram and another 100 questions of Kaplan in the afternoon. Patiently read all the rationales. The reason i do 205 straight every 8am is because that's my appointment to take the test and thinking Ima take the whole 205 just so if it dnt shut off at 85 I wouldn't be having panic attack. But it did shut off at 85.
My advice , just keep on reviewing the material and do tons of practice questions. Hurst, La Charity, and for practice questions used Kaplan and Exam Cram. Don't give up. And don't be to hard n your self. The moment you give up that's when you fail.
Good Luck!! God bless :)

I am in NC and took the NCLEX after taking HURST and failed. I guess I am the 2%. :-( I had many - many - many priority, delegation, precautions, and medications I have never heard of.
