Failed Concepts by 3 pts in 1st semester, now what?

Published

I am looking for some assistance, I failed my first semester nursing concepts by 3 pts. I am not sure if they will let me back into the program. I want to become an RN so bad and on the hands on I am great, but I have such text anxiety it really hurts. I know the material when asked, just have written issues. Has anyone been in the same boat and if so did you try and get testing accommodations or has anything else worked. I was schedule to take a few summer classes, not sure what to do at this point. All of my pre req's are completed, only nursing classes left. Excelsior is not an option as I am not a licensed LPN

Reapply to the program. If you're not let back in, pursue acceptance at other nursing schools. Look at this as a setback, not the end of the line.

In the meantime, work on your study skills and test-taking. If you have problems with written tests, identify those specific problems and seek help from a tutor or counselor about how to overcome them. If you have a problem taking tests and the fundamental's level, you'll never pass the NCLEX without making changes. Don't just reapply without addressing the reasons behind why you failed. You're much more likely to be readmitted if you can show that you've learned and grown. Unless you can prove that you have a diagnoses learning disability, you won't be able to receive special accommodation.
