I have been on here starting and replying to posts about new grads not getting jobs and freaking out with everyone else. I was starting to apply to jobs I never though I would and out of the area even though I am married and my husband has his own business and it would be totally inconvenient...NOTHING was looking promising...very few students in my class were getting job offers. And it is not like I have your regular run of the mill resume. I am graduating Cume Laude, am a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, I have done 300 extra curricular clinical hours through a separate nursing program in a local OB department, became a certified doula while in nursing school, have extra certifications like ACLS and NRP, have done a lot of volunteer work in the medical field, and have past experience as a Certified Medical Assistant... but still was not getting any offers to the jobs I was interviewing for...the one I really wanted which was in OB in my town said that I interviewed really well but that they gave it to some one with a little more experience...I was starting to think I was going do some more unpaid preceptorships just to keep my skills up while waiting for this recession to turn around!
Well, I just got the official paperwork for a job offer for an OB position in my town...the very job I was turned down for...turns out I was their second choice and one of their nurses got into midwifery school and is moving way!
Just want to tell people not to lose hope! Just when you think all is lost things can turn around! I have my dream job that I have wanted before I even started my pre-reqs and it is just over a mile from my house...I could walk to work! Sorry if I am gloating but
