That's where I got my first degree and am getting my second. You must be highly disciplined and motivated because it is all on you to study. If you can do that it is a great way to preserve your lifestyle and work full time. It is also pretty cheap. Just make sure that your state doesn't have any limits. Some states won't recognize Excelsior new grads.

Yep yep ... here is the list of info regarding state boards from EC's website:

I'm an EC grad as well, for my ADN. I went elsewhere for my BSN because my credits fit better at another school. I'm SO glad I did EC's program! It's been life-changing, in so many ways.

I just started recently and it's great! Much better way of getting my RN without having to go to classes! Any questions feel free to ask...i've taken Health & Safety and passed it using JUST textbooks, i didnt buy any "modules or books" from third party publishing places like The college network or Rue or chancellors...and if you do want to use their items check ebay you can find them for MUCH cheapter...i'm taking A&P next week and Transitions to RN role the week after, it's a very doable program but you really do have to stick with it and be disiplined to do the studying!
Thank you all for your input and for that link :) Medic, how long did it take you to finish and Tasha, how long till you will be done? How was the CPNE at the end? That sounds the most nerve racking!!!

Hi J1,
I am new here too. I recently made the descision to attend EC. I have been in and out of school for the last several years, and I am finding that the traditional route is just not working fast enough for me, and working fulltime and physically attending classes 2-3 times a week is also a huge burden on me. With the waiting lists, and inflexible class schedules at traditional colleges. I needed to find an alternative. I posted my questions here, did a lot of research on EC, and I have found that although EC may not work for everyone, I believe it can be done for those commited. There are so many just like us, that took the chance and were successful.
Good Luck on your research.

I spoke with someone who was from NC visiting a patient of mine in the hospital. He told me that all of the NC nursing schools had waiting lists. In NY it's pretty much the same if you want to get into one of the cheaper schools had I just went for my RN. I've had a couple of friends quit the program because it was not for them and too hard. It's not for everyone you MUST be motivated because time can really pass you by procrastinating. Best wishes!

Take some time to explore the distance learning forum. There are a ton of posts about EC, most of them positive. Best wishes as you start out and take the above advice, do not procrastinate! Good luck.
Thank you all! I greatly appreciate the feedback!

I am also a EC grad. Glad I went this route. IT was much harder then your typical spoon fed nursing classes. I am stronger, as I know if I can survive CPNE I can do most anything. I thought being a Medic was tuff at times.
Let me say this, I am working as a New Grad RN, I am way ahead of my peers at this point in orentation. I still have questions like all Newer Rns do, but I also have critical thinking skills. Just be prepared to this "in the box" instead of outside it I am finding out.
Otherwise, best of luck to you.
