I have invested the application fee, the enrollment fee, paid for three exams(taken two), paid for three practice exams so I am in up to my neck and I am hoping to hear from some Excelsior grads and current students to keep me from blowing my stack. I am a very mild mannered person until I get pushed!!!!! WHY, please tell me, WHY is it that I have seen several posts on this forum from students that have gotten approval for Straighterline A&P, and even seen a post from one individual that has actually already taken the exam in order to complete her degree YET the advisor I am working with seems to think everyone on this forum is lying or I am! She insists that only biology and chemistry are the only sciences approved, that A&P is NOT! This kind of inconsistency does not set well with me. I have not invested over 2K of my money so far into an education just so the school I chose can pick and choose at different times of the day what is acceptable and what is not. I was told by the advisor to either study and take the Excelsior test or take A&P at the CC where I did all my other prereqs. Has anyone else had any issues? Does anyone have any suggestions? I was told this by a senior advisor so who can I go to next???

Just wait until you get to the CPNE. Not every student is treated with the same degree of fairness, just as in regular programs. Still EC is worth the gamble for those who get through the program witbout getting on the wrong radar. Hope you are able to resolve this favorably.

Yeah, I got an F on an exam that someone got a B on with the same scores. How does that work??
Something helpful. Speak to one of the other advisors and/or ask the person who has used it in PM who they spoke to to get it approved... Just helpful suggestions.

MissingMyErica took the straighterline A&P II(in four days I add) right after passing the CPNE. Anyway, I did exactly that, I asked her if she could pm me with the contact person that approved the course for her.
Awesome, I hope it works for you. I plan on using it as well.

i'm not too sure about the straighterline courses. but, i will tell you that when i was trying to get approval for my a&p credits, it was a matter of it covering all body systems. so, i ended up finding an online a&p through new mexico junior college for only $54 a credit. (and i am in a different state) for less than $300 a course, i took a&p i and ii through that online cc college. best decision ever. and because it was through a cc, it was for sure accepted. i have learned not to take anything without written approval from ec.
my advisor that i always work with is great. she is fair and nice and so helpful. i am about to take cpne next month, and have completed all my gen ed courses. so, ec is a good way to go. hope you get this worked out!
I didn't get your message BUT...... the advisor I am talking with has just emailed me, thanked me for the information and stated she may just have outdated information that NEW courses/tests are being approved all the time so she is "looking into it". While I have your attention Missing, I have to tell you what an inspiration you are to me(probably many others too). After being a LPN for 18 years I decided to go back. I had planned on a test a month and changed gears and have taken two(three as of tomorrow) since March 25th and plan on taking another one next Friday to make it FOUR in a month! I thought maybe I was moving too fast but seeing your story in black and white makes me realize that what I am doing is right for "ME". The only thing I am intimidated by is the CPNE but after reading your story I am INSPIRED! I don't think I will tackle as quickly as you did but knowing my first goal was March 2012 and now it's December 2011 is very motivating. I hope you keep contact with all of us here because you will inspire anyone just starting out with Excelsior. Good luck on the NCLEX.
I'm glad you're getting things straightened out with Excelsior and straighterline. I love straighterline and I'm getting ready to take Business Stats with them. I had a mixup with my advisor about Straighterline A&P too, and then I got it straightened out, so I'm sure you'll be able to take it.
Having you call me an "inspiration" is amazing and such a huge compliment, so thank you so much! I think you're right, everyone has to do things at their own pace, but I have found that the people who take forever to take the exams are the ones that never finish. I think it's way to easy to get overwhelmed with tons of information. Obviously, you and I have something in common, I just wanted to have those exams done as quickly as possible! How many tests do you have left? Let me know if I can help you with the CPNE in any way. I used Rob's mnemonics and if you have any time in your busy life, you should make them up on index cards and carry them around with you. This will save you lot's of memorization time later on. Keep me posted on your progress!

wow, thanks for that info! i've lived in new mexico over half my life, and never heard of that college... (it is 5 hours away) and ec accepts their credits? nice... :)
