Hey guys, long time follower and first time post. I looked for info on the Health Safety course prior to taking the exam on this forum because I was a bit nervous to take the test and figured someone could use the information.
I'm a paramedic going through the core ADN nursing program with Excelsior. I finished my prereqs in September but procrastinated for a little and did not start studying for my first class until late November. I just finished taking the Health Safety test at PearsonVue and made a "C" on the exam. I studied for a month straight and took about a week off completely during the holidays. Before the test I reviewed for 3 days and felt relatively confident I would be fine.
I ended up using only the SG101 guide and the Excelsior practice exams as study materials and it was pretty helpful. As stated in the Excelsior study guide for this course, 60-70% of the exam is based on the "application" of the knowledge. Just remember to apply the knowledge and that rote memorization can be helpful but you still have to think a question through. GL to anyone about to take the test. I'm now on to "Transition to the Professional Nurse Role." If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.
PS if anyone is just starting the program, let me know! I'd love to shoot some ideas for studying and help each other out!
