How was excelsior microbiology exam?
What addional books or study guides did you use.?
Did you pass on first try?
How much study time did you devote?
Any tips would be immensely appreciated.
I have averaged a B on the nursing exams.

I just completed micro with EC 7/3 and found it very tough although I passed. I utilized the practice exam and used the recommended text with study guide but the 8th ed. I also purchased sg 101 but with having only a few weeks to study didn't get to fully utilize it. I don't know what edition there using but I already had this one. I found the actual exam to be easier than the practice exam.

I just found TCN microbiology 2007 on ebay very cheep. Is it a waste of time? I figured I would read through the whole binder. Then use SG101, then try the EC practice test. Any advice?
Sounds like a good plan, my advice, just make sure what your covering in TCN covers the EC content guide because that test covered everything in the content guide. Good luck!

Has anyone used Lisa Arends' CD for Micro? I ordered it last week, and it seems very complete. I also have an older edition of Tortora Micro.. the 7th Ed. Figured I would also get the EC study guide and practice test and go for it!

I used similar materials, Barbara, and did just fine. I also read a book called "Microbiology Demystified" that was actually one of most enjoyable books about science that I've ever read! :)
Lisa,
Thanks so much! You provide a LOT of great info on this forum, and it is much appreciated!! I will definitely look for that book.

I'm using TCN and Lisa Arends notes. I also have Microbiolgy Demystified and find it helpful although it doesn't cover the content guide very well.
Which is better tcn notes or lisa arends or study101? Are the tcn notes for sale on ebay current?
I like TCN modules (study guides) especially the one I have for Micro. I can't say which one I like better between Arends and TCN, I like the fact that I can carry Arends notes on the go. The study guide is way too big to lug.

If you really want a great resource for Micro that only costs a little over $10.00.
Get the Micro cliff notes.... and then answer the Ec contents guide for Micro with it. It will be the best 10 bucks you ever spent. You can answer 95% of what's on the EC contents guide with the Cliff notes and then hit a library and a Micro text for the other 5%. I Aced Micro when I took it
Good Luck with the exam
