Nursing Students Excelsior

Specializes in Emergency Room.

Sitting in employee orientation last week at my new job, we were asked to introduce ourselves. One woman, a "seasoned" LPN, shared that she had just recently enrolled in the Excelsior ASN program. Another LPN across the table, a brand-spankin' newbie, emphatically interjected, "But they ain't accredited! I heard they lost their accreditation! You won't get your license!" I was gratified to be able to just as emphatically counter with, "That is absolutely incorrect. I am an Excelsior graduate and I got my license with no problem!" (We are in Georgia, by the way.)

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

They never lost accreditation in fact have accreditation with commendation.

Specializes in Med/Surg, LTACH, LTC, Home Health.

Good for you!!!!! I often hear others shoot down online nursing programs from nurses who know nothing about it....of course, that's right before I tell them that I received my ASN (and very soon to receive the BSN) through Excelsior College.:smokin:

Specializes in Certified Med/Surg tele, and other stuff.

Excelsior used to be called Regents back in the 80's and offered by the University of New York. I think the longevity of the program speaks for itself.

I love it when people who know nothing of educational degrees are opinionated. Drives me nuts.
