I was just wondering if anyone has had any actual experience going from LPN to RN with excelsior college recently. I would like to get as much information as possible about the process, programs and clinicals.

I am a recent graduate from Excelsior College ADN-RN June 2017. I don't know anything about the new requirements to get in as I enrolled right before all the changes in 2014. This program will challenge you and will shape you to be the best nurse that you could be. I am extremely thankful to this program which help me accomplish my dreams while I worked full-time as an LPN. I went to a traditional program and failed out. It was not doable to work full time and go to a traditional program. Please stay away from all the negativity that people write about the program. I listened to all these negative post and ended up completing the program a year later because I got discouraged and stopped mid-way.

This program is not for a person that wants constant feedback from a professor. You are on your own studying to take tests. The final component of the schools' curriculum is the CPNE test. A 3 day clinical at a hospital were you have to show your nursing knowledge from nursing 101 - fundamentals ---Knowledge that you have when you finished LPN fundamental class. It's not a hard test but you have to know your stuff. The school will supply you with a manual for the CPNE which you will eat, breath, and sleep. Know that manual inside out and bring your charming humble self to that testing site and you will pass.

So happy for you! :D Have you taken your NCLEX yet or are you still working through ATI?

Finished ATI in like 3 weeks. Went away on vacation got back yesterday and scheduled my NCLEX-RN for next month.

Thank you for this! It's really nice to talk to someone who did it so recently! All the negativity had me thinking the tests were impossible the CPNE was completely impossible and it was just a giant waste. I want this so bad and I hope excelsior will help me get there!

I also just recently started the program at Excelsior and almost decided against it because of the negative post that I have read. I also work full-time and need to continue to work full-time as I have to pay for schooling out of pocket (no more financial aid due to previous degrees). Anywho Excelsior is the only program at present time that will accommodate my work schedule and I'm looking forward to getting to the end of this journey.

Your sciences need to be within 5 years. If you've been an LPN for less than five years, you get to skip a class too.

I'll take whatever i can get! so i wonder do you like take one test for each nursing class or is it like multiple tests?

If you do credit by exam, it's one test per nursing theory topic. If you do courses, each nursing theory topic is an 8-week course with discussion posts and quizzes/exams.
