Can't remember if I ever posted here or not, but here goes:

    LPN from 2006-2012

Received ASN from EC April 2012- Have been working as a Nurse Case Manager since, did work on a Med-Surg unit for 6 wks, but HATE the hospital setting and love Case Management!

Enrolled right back into EC for the BSN program May 2012 with Expected finish of Dec 2013 (conferral will be Feb 2014)

Plan on going into an MSN program for NP starting summer or Fall of 2014 =) EC enabled me to be a SOLID independent student, I am successful in my online classes and hold a 3.54 right now with one term left to go. I feel well educated as an RN, and the BSN coursework is giving me confidence to continue to pursue my MSN =)

I am a newly graduated LVN here in California. We are a military family and I will be moving to Tennessee soon. I am glad I found this forum because I want to enroll in the Excelsior program. I am a little worried though about finding a school that will except Excelsior credits because I do plan on getting my bachelors degree eventually. Has anyone had any issues with moving on in their education and also has anyone had a hard time Finding employment because you graduated from Excelsior? My school for LVN was a private college and I was president of my class and previously enrolled in and RN program but due to the military I had to drop out. Long story short here in California it is very difficult to get into an RN program and complete it within the Amount of time I had here. Also they do a lottery system. It is just very difficult here. anyways just trying to find some input before I sign up for this.

Hello, has anyone used their AAS in Nursing from Excelsior to obtain employment in Australia? This is my end goal and I'm curious if Excelsior will be able to get me there. Thanks!

    Well, here it goes.
LPN working med-surg for 4 years, did RT for 2 years before that and then got my ADN from EC. Spent 2 years working ICU then, 6 years might be 7 now of behavioral health. During those same 6-7 years I have done per diem home health and LTC. I start my new job as a ER nurse next week and will drop down to per diem in behavioral health.

Maryland will now allow licensure by endorsement for Excelsior grads with 1000 hours of work experience in the 12 months immediately prior to the request for licensure and Georgia now requires a preceptorship. California is the only state that still will not license an Excelsior grad either by examination or endorsement.

For the poster asking about licensure in Australia - I believe you will need a BSN to work there. I know that you need a BSN to work in New Zealand and those two countries have reciprocity (I'm thinking of relocating to New Zealand at some point in the future and researched their requirements). You can google the information and go directly to Australia's board of health to see what their requirements are.

Georgia will endorse if more than 1800 hours nursing experience. I just got my license from them. Just be warned they are incredibly slow in processing everything and letters of reference helps. Get letters from your director of nursing specifically stating you are clinically ok and that you have good critical thinking skills as well.

I was an LPN for 24 years prior to enrollment with EC in August 2009. Graduated and passed NCLEX in April/June 2010 respectively. I kept my same job as a PRN float nurse for a year then relocated, where I did a year in a cardiac step-down unit at one hospital while maintaining a float position at a teaching hospital where I am now. Presently, I'm in the process of endorsing to Florida and am on course to RN-BSN completion with EC by April of next year...if all goes as planned. Once that is completed, nothing but tropical working vacations for me!

And CONGRATULATIONS to you Lyndaa!! Not sure if I will have the motivation to go for the BSN after I am done with this. BUT... who knows??!! Wow, you really got through the ADN portion fast! I had a slow start... I will watch your progress on other threads...

I started Excelsior in 9/08 and graduated officially 9/09 with my ADN . Now, I am working in Home Health (love it) in NC and my salary from LPN in LTC went from 32,000 to 63,000 this past year! Do I regret it? NO! Wished I would have done it sooner! Now, to obtain my BSN!
