Excelsior and Cali license

Has anyone that has graduated from Excelsior college recently been able to get a Cali license?

Specializes in Med/Surg, LTACH, LTC, Home Health. Has 34 years experience.

Probably not. California does not accept Excelsior College graduates. However, one can obtain employment in any Federal facility (Veterans Administration [VA], federal prisons, etc., in any one of the 50 states, including California.

Are you considering Excelsior for an ASN? If so, be forewarned that it may take less time to complete a traditional program, considering the current CPNE wait times at EC.

Nope. Not unless you maintained continuous enrollment in EC's ADN program since before December 2003, which is impossible with a 7-year program time limit.

It has been said that on a case by case basis, a person can have their application considered and possibly approved. However, no one has ever reported on this site that they were able to get licensed this way, at least that I have noticed over the years. The ship for CA licensing of Excelsior graduates sailed in December of 2003.
