You ever get the sense that our government is at times working against us healthcare workers? I was reading today how HHS was pledging 1 billion dollars towards Partnership for Patients, which will ultimately (IMO) find another way for Medicare not to pay out reimbursement for services due. You tell me how putting in 1 billion dollars now will save 35 billion dollars over the next three years? Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius was a Governor before she became secretary of HHS; it would be nice if someone who actually worked in medicine and healthcare to be in charge of HHS instead of just another politician. I just wonder what's the next strenuous protocol that will be placed on us nurses as a result of this.

Hello. I agree that it "would be nice if someone who worked in medicine and healthcare" was currently the secretary of Health and Human Services. On the other hand, I do not think that "the government is working against health care workers". To me, the government is working with health care professionals to come up with ways to control costs for good care and provide reasonable options for health insurance plans for all citizens. For example, I do think that a "tightening" of the Medicare system is in order to prevent "milking" of the program by doctors who tend to order excessive tests for their patients. My hope is that any new protocols for nurses which may result from reducing health care costs will be justified. Best wishes.

A government's purpose is to get in a man's way.

i'd argue that they're actually targeting women:rolleyes:
I agree. I believe their goal is to keep the government alive on the backs of the people. I believe this whole thing about budget cuts, healthcare options, and you name it is all wishy wash. It's funny that the government can bail out banks but burden the people. Our government is all about smoke and mirrors, and to believe that it's actually for the people is foolish.

It would be nice to put someone in the cabinet that knew what they were doing, but you have to remember a cabinet position is purely political favors. When was the last time a truck driver was Secretary of Transportation. It's not going to happen. She did a favor for Obama, so he gave her a cabinet post. This is the way it's always been. It's the Under Secretaries and her staff that do the work. Every year that I have be a Nurse it gets worst and worst.
